Honda A cord 1996 EX exhaust pipe broken
Hi,
Yesterday my car got very noisy. Today I looked underneath. The exhaust pipe that goes into the basket weave looking piece that goes into the Catalytic converter is broken all the way through.
How tough a job is it to replace that pipe? Not sure what the basket weave is and how it attaches to the pipe.
Any help would be great!

Ill tell ya what man, I had the same problem on my 97 and i started by doing just what your asking about and replacing just the bad sections. It ends up being more trouble than its worth because if any part is rusted enough to start leaking or break on its own, odds are there is more to come. take my advice and just buy a complete aftermarket exhaust system. The time you save not cutting, welding and/or clamping is worth it in itself, not to mention the power increase. I lucked out and found a brand new system w/ header on Cl for $200. Im sure you wont find another deal like that but shop around a little, honda stuff is cheap.
I'm guessing you have a V6 since the I4s had that weave after the resonator in the mid-pipe.
Just replace it, the weldment design and tight confines will not allow a repair, that and if the weave has corroded out the rest of the pipe is probably compromised. Check your engine mounts as well, if they are worn they may have contributed to the weaves failure.
