2009 Honda Civic Clunk when braking... Suggestions Please
I have a 2009 Honda Civic that is making a single clunk noise when breaking sort of hard. The noise is coming from the front drivers side engine / wheel area. The car has 120,000 miles on it and no front end work has ever been done and/or not accidents. You can slightly feel the clunk as well. Any ideas are welcome. I know that there is an issue with subframes needing work on Civics, however; I am not sure if this affects the 2009 model year.
it could be a million different possibilities... only way is to get under and look.
When was the last time the brakes were done/changed?
If done recently were the wheels torqued to spec? Check to make sure your lug nuts are properly seated and tightened as this could cause a certain sound which is similar to what you are describing... when the wheel is smacking against a part of the rotor.
A few other possibilities also but these of the first 2 I would be looking at.

I bet you the caliper bracket is fractured. If the caliper isn't firmly supported, it will rotate with the rotor until it binds.
