first honda! boosted b18 swap questions
half of this thread belongs in the intro area but oh well. hey guys my name is stanley, im 18 from pa, and i recently bought my first honda. im no stranger to a wrench as youll find. the car i got is a 94 honda civic dx hatch, d15b7 5 speed, 237,000 miles. i bought the car soley for the reason that i love eg hatchbacks. anyways i bought it as a airbox stock unbeaten car with a "newer motor". to make a long story short it chucked a rod 6 days after i got it. not gonna lie i drive it pretty hard, im 18 and own a civic what do you expect. anyways i threw a junkyard motor in it in a day with a friend of mine, and have been dding it since. its a fun car and its not ungodly slow, but i want more out of it. after a lot of thought and research ive decided on a boosted ls swaps. from what i read b18 swaps are pretty easy, and they can take a relatively decent amount of power in stock form or semi built. now my goal is to make 300 whp if not close to it. really want to break into the 300 range. my intentions are to buy a complete obd1 integra, build the motor a little, do the swap, get it running good in n/a form, and then booost. my questions are as follows.
1: i know ill need an upgraded fuel system (ie. injectors pump) someone point me in the right direction?
2:recommended turbo for the 300 whp goal?
3:i know ill need an upgraded clutch for the extra power, what stage and brands would be recommended?
4:kind of off topic but a source for quality parts?
5:what mods to the motor to hold up to 300 whp? head studs? i think i read that stock sleeves can hold up to 300 but not sure, and pistons? any little bit helps!
6:will the ls axles hold up at this hp level?
7:tuning? i still need to do some research on this, but my intentions are to run the recommended ecu for the ls swap, i believe p75? correct me if im wrong. but easiest/ most affordable tuning software or whatever i need? im honestly not sure, tuning is the only thing i havent really dabbled in.
thanks in advance guys, looking forward to being an active member of the community, im sure ill have more questions along the way. thanks again!

i did some research into hondata and was wondering if a s100 would cut it for what i want to do. i like the idea of it because its affordable obviously hahah
edit: i also found out there is a hondata "dealer" to tune the car once all is said and done less than 10 miles from my house!

Read the Forced Induction FAQ. It will answer some of your more basic questions. Once you're "up to speed", post your turbo-related questions in the FI forum.

1: i know ill need an upgraded fuel system (ie. injectors pump) someone point me in the right direction?
I'm assuming you're running pump gas (91-93oct).
-Walbro 255lph
-550-720cc fuel injectors
-Stock FPR and fuel rail
2:recommended turbo for the 300 whp goal?
There are 100 different routes you could go with this. To keep things simple, look into one of the following:
-T3/T04e 50 trim .63ar
-T3/T04e 57 trim .63ar
-GT3255b/e (PM member TheShodan)
3:i know ill need an upgraded clutch for the extra power, what stage and brands would be recommended?
Clutches are rated by their torque-holding capacity. With a ~300whp B series, it will only make ~250wtq at most so a clutch rated for 250wtq will suffice. These are the two i would recommend, but you can look around at similar clutches. I would look primarily at Competition clutch, Exedy, Clutchmasters, and ACT .
-Competition Clutch Stage 3 - 6 puck, sprung
-Exedy Stage 2 - 3 puck, sprung

5:what mods to the motor to hold up to 300 whp? head studs? i think i read that stock sleeves can hold up to 300 but not sure, and pistons? any little bit helps!
The stock block will hold 300whp if the engine is healthy and the setup is tuned correctly. Building it isn't requeired for your power goal, but is good peace of mind. If you were looking for 350+, then you would be looking at building it. Stock sleeves are good for ~450-500whp.
6:will the ls axles hold up at this hp level?
Depends on how you drive it.
7:tuning? i still need to do some research on this
There are several tuning options (again, this is covered in the FI FAQ). It would be in your best interest not to skimp out on a good EMS. For your goal, a Hondata S200 or S300 unit would be fine. Look around for tuners in your area and see which EMS they tune. There's a tuner's directory in the FAQ or in the stickies at the top of the FI forum

picking parts, brands is the easy part.
Countless of people here could rattle off a full list of parts you need.
hum.. my tip...
make a detailed list of everything you need.
Once you price EVERYTHING out, you'll have a better idea if this the route you want to take.
manytimes i see people run out of money before they can finish their build so they skimp out on some of the important stuff.
IMHO for most B series engine/turbo setup under 300whp, you will need about $3,400.....assuming you buy qaulity used parts in good condition. This should cover all the tiny things like clamps, zipties, fittings, fluids, important gauges, tuning....assuming you can install the turbo kit yourself correctly.
