Depends on what it's condition is when you take off the cover. If it's crusty and inflexible, I would replace it. Black with the honda emblem showing looks nice, at least in my engine bay for now.

Always replace the valve cover gasket and spark plug grommets when removing the valve cover.

hahahaha don't get testy with NotARacist They're like 15 bucks for a set on rockauto, valve cover and the grommets. By rattle can do you mean spray paint? Yes, sanded er down because it's was covered in engine grease and oil then a layer of primer and gloss.

Unless you enjoy the idea of oil leaks all down the front and back of your engine, and possibly down your spark plug tubes, ruining your plugs and wires, yes, yes you do.

If you don't want to replace it than why bother asking this question? If its never been replaced than what does that tell you?

i asked because I have never taken a valve cover off and didn't know if the gasket would get completely destroyed when i removed the cover. Therefore i asked to make sure i could just put the gasket back on instead of having to replace it. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question though.
