Valva cover gasket D16y8
If i remove my valve cover to paint it, will i have to replace the valve cover gasket. Or when im done can I just reinstall the Valve cover, Any ideas on what color to paint it. My car is red
Depends on what it's condition is when you take off the cover. If it's crusty and inflexible, I would replace it. Black with the honda emblem showing looks nice, at least in my engine bay for now.
thanks for the response, i'm pretty sure that the valve cover gasket has never been replaced. at least not in the last three years. how much are they you think? and did you rattle can your valve cover?
hahahaha don't get testy with NotARacist
They're like 15 bucks for a set on rockauto, valve cover and the grommets. By rattle can do you mean spray paint? Yes, sanded er down because it's was covered in engine grease and oil then a layer of primer and gloss.

Unless you enjoy the idea of oil leaks all down the front and back of your engine, and possibly down your spark plug tubes, ruining your plugs and wires, yes, yes you do.

i asked because I have never taken a valve cover off and didn't know if the gasket would get completely destroyed when i removed the cover. Therefore i asked to make sure i could just put the gasket back on instead of having to replace it. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question though.
