1. Google searched for a different vegicle before posting. ASKED here, as I am now going to drive and cant operate a phone.
2. Not lazy, no. Wanting to know what size socket to have on my ratchet. Might even have to *gasp!* buy it.
3. I may be calling that part the wrong thing.
4. For an aficionado of this car, I would love to know before I crawl up under there in all the heat. Would you have me be uncomfortable, trying socket sizes I may not have?
I realize this is/can be a snarky-assed forum, so. I will ask... Do you know the answer, and, if so, can you provide it to me. Please. TIA
Yes, you are quite obviously lazy.Punch "2000 civic drain plug size" into google.
THE VERY FIRST RESULT
Consider yourself spoon fed. If you were an "aficionado", you would already know the answer, and wouldn't have had to ask. The proper size is part of every standard socket set, so yes, I do expect you to spend all of one minute being uncomfortable under your car while you fumble around trying to find the right piece.
You are the epitome of everything that is wrong with the digital age. You expect other people to hand everything to you, don't want to do anything that might require a modicum of thought, and God forbid you might actually have to break a sweat!

Damn bro, why so many insults?
And... linky appears to say 17mm. The O'Reilly's part threw me.

So... Thank you for the relevant information, and !!! on your personal feelings. They suck.
Just curious, NAR... Are you perhaps from Massachusetts?
Consider your hand held. You're welcome. Now go learn how to use Google. The insults are this thing called negative reinforcement. Maybe next time you want something, you'll try to help us before you risk having someone come down on you for being a lazyass.
You're either buying some really shitty tools, or you're just buying the wrong sets. Snap-on metric set, all sizes 8mm through 18mm. Craftsman el-cheapo $10 box set (with ratchet), all sizes 10mm to 18mm. Craftsman socket rail, 10mm, and all sizes from 12mm to 19mm.
Every basic toolkit worth buying, will include a 17mm socket.

Right there in the product description, and I stopped looking at soon as I found it. It does include a 17mm socket. Seriously, everything sold metric as a set for a 3/8" ratchet should include a 17mm socket. This is super simple stuff.
Neither myself, nor these forums are here to make people feel good about themselves. Ever heard the phrase "ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer"? Well, this thread is in a STRONG lead for stupidest thread of September. Placating stupidity and laziness will only encourage it, and increase it's frequency. Unless you want this forum to turn into a bunch of idiots asking how to change their oil?
$10 basic set. Or, if you want to step up a little bit, I absolutely love this $30 set. Both of which are dead simple, flat cheap, and include a 17mm socket.

Tom, there's an FAQ sticky that LONG out-dates either you or me on these forums. It's stickied, and highlighted in gray at the very top of the forum. The people who made that sticky, as well as the people who whose threads are involved in that sticky, put a LOT of work into it. You want to talk about manners? Do you know how incredibly and blatantly insulting it is to the men and women who MADE that sticky, to just ignore it's very existence? I'm oldschool too - respect is earned, not given, and if you're going to spit in the collective faces of those people, I'm going to spit right back. How are you, as a moderator, going to openly try to shatter everything past mods have done to try to keep this forum free and clear of the rampant idiocy that infest every other car-based forum out there?
In this thread specifically, there was obviously ZERO effort put in. When you want to know something, what's the first thing you do? The majority of intelligent people would say "Search Google". So, go punch "2000 civic oil drain bolt" into Google, and check that out! The very first link completely and totally answers OP's question! Placating laziness will only send these forums downhill faster - you really shouldn't.
