the car wont rev, i give it gas it kinda spits and sputters i try to floor it and it just falls on its face and dies. it will start up everytime just hard to keep it running. i believe everything is wired up right. check engine light is on but i dont think it has anything to do with my problem as it was on before the trans popped.

the car sat for 5 years i just put it back together, it had quarter tank of gas in it.
i put injectore cleaner in it. not sure what problem is. revs up a bit but wont go past 2500k and then just dies.

You need to see what the CEL is on for, doesn't matter if you think or don't think it has anything to do with the problem. That's your ECU telling you something IS wrong.

5 year old gas is also a no no unless you put something in there to stabilize it. Even then, 5 years is a long time.

 

well cel was on before and car ran like a top, i have a vented gas cap on the car and like i said it sat for around 4-5 years. could this be the problem.
car starts up fine just hard to keep it running and when you give it gas it just dies out.

 

Then it must be unrelated since it ran like a top with the CEL on 5 years ago.

 

Agreed. The CEL only distinguishes a single issue.

Have you checked your tire pressure?



Seriously, check the CEL and come back.
