2000 Civic Si Misfires
Hey guys I've had this problem for about a year now since about a week after I bought the car. A few things I've tried are; I just replaced the battery, because the guy at O'reillys said it was bad, nothin, I've tried squirting water on the dizzy to see if it might bog down a bit, someone told me to do it for the intake gasket as well, but nothing. p0300 are my obd codes. When it first started last year I had my buddy check the Plugs and he told me they were fine. Also I dont know if its something big but since IVe had it I've noticed oil leaking all over the valve cover and some of the bolts, and was wondering if that might be something bad too, heres a few pics http://imgur.com/a/K8SKv [1] . What might be some things to test before throwing more money at it?
By the way everything on the car was on there when I bought it. Ive only done the oil change on it.

1. change the valve cover gasket/washers/grommets. they come as a set.
2. remove all of that yellow riff-raff from your engine bay. it pisses me off.
3. check your timing, both ignition and mechanical.
4. if everything checks out, my guess would be bad distributor.

Wow really? You've been hiding on this site for a yr and it hasn't ring a bell that most people try to do some sort of maintenance to the car after purchasing a used car? God damn, people take the phrase "if it ain't broke don't fix it" to a whole new level.
Maybe oil got in your distributor. Or maybe ignition coil in the distributor is bad. Check your spark plug wires with a voltage meter. Misfires can be a pain but eventually you will find it,just pray its not a leaking headgasket. Just do a major tune up it cant hurt thats the first thing i do when i get a car regardless. Change you plugs and gap them properly, change your wires to oem or ngk wires, ive had orilleys and autozone wires crap out before a year. Change your fuel filter,Distributor cap and rotor and try and get a ignition coil i bought a rich porter one off ebay for a pretty good price and works great,my car misfired and eventually died. Changed ignition coil and it started right up with no misfires. But now it has a bad headgasket (bubbling in coolant overflow) and it runs perfect untill i turn the a/c on when its 75 deg. or hotter out the car misfires like crazy. Well any way good luck.
Sorry man, I'm a college kid on a budget haha I get about an extra 30 bucks a month to spend on fun stuff. I only travel about 10 miles a day so i didnt think it'd be to bad of a problem.
Put some money on the side and get started, bike to school if you have to. You keep it as is than more **** will start to happen.
