No Shift Lock?
I've been doing some reading, and it seems that my automatic transmission is supposed to require the break pedal to be depressed before the engine will start, and the gear shifter should be locked in park when the ignition is off, unless the key is inserted into the shift locker.

Neither currently work, and while it isn't the end of the world it is something I'd like to fix to continue my factory restoration. Any thoughts? Can't find anything else posted on the forums.
It's a 90 Accord (DX) with a replaced transmission by the previous owner.

Inside the shifter assembly will be the interlock, if it has been disabled or broken then it will not work. Look to see if #8 works.

You should hear a slight click when you depress the brake pedal with the trans in Park. It may simply have been disconnected.

The interlock control unit is located behind the driver's side dash, near the kick panel. The shift lock solenoid is inside the shifter assembly.
The control unit may still be there and the previous owner may have bypass the control unit.
