My daughter has a 99 civic, auto. 157k miles. Great car, but. She came home today and trans was low on fluid and makes a whirring sound only when we let off of the accelerator while driving. I filled it up with fluid, but it still makes the noise while driving. If I shift into neutral the sound goes away. Pull back into drive and sound starts again. (It sounds like gears that are spinning on each other.) Then I pulled it down into 3rd and let off of the accelerator and trans does NOT make the sound. It only makes the sound when it is in 4th (auto trans) and I let off of the accelerator. Does anyone on here ever had this to happen?? Thanks in advance.
