Default What would you pay for a 26k mile '98 Type-R (supercharged)?

So strictly by chance, while going to look at another car, I met someone who has a 1998 Integra Type-R with around 26k miles on it. Overall condition I would call a 7/10 scale, and it comes with a couple of sets of wheels, some moderate suspension upgrades, and Jackson Racing supercharger. I usually am not big on any VTEC car with a supercharger, but I can see that he spent a lot of money on these parts, and having them tuned properly. It has a Hondata system, and some other items as well. Being a huge Honda / Acura fan, I expressed interest in the car, and we are trying to figure out a value. I honestly have no idea what to offer for this car. Any help?

Thank you, and have a wonderful night.

Ah I think I remember this car. Was in Washington, D.C. Without seeing pictures and overall condition really hard to say what it's worth

Body condition, a description of the modifications and whether all of the OEM parts are still with the car would give us a better idea on a current market value.

I would offer as a 25k mile car that is in the 7/10 range for condition. The JR supercharger would decrease it's value to most ITR enthusiasts. They also aren't known to make very good power either. Heat soak and high compression don't go well together.

So with that said, I'm sure a 26k mile ITR with "ok" condition would get $13k-14k.

For a Itr to fetch good money in my opinion it goes like this
#1body /paint need to be 9.5\10
#2 stock matching #and engine (engine need to be clean and pass
compression test and leakdown test)
#3 clean tittle obviously
#4 No Rust...
the rest for me is all maintenance!

Yeah, I was never a fan of the JRSC on the ITR. Worked well on the GSR, but to work properly on the ITR you needed to throw a lot of money into the setup.

I'd stay away unless the engine came back with a good bill of health...then I'd rip off the JRSC and recoup some money.

Im usually a purist when it comes to itr stuff but we often forget that the jrsc was actually a certified dealer option, warranty included if Acura themselves installed it. I believe if you research it, it also has a part no. And for a low mileage car, it doesnt sound so bad if all the panels are original vin stamped and block/trans are original. Having receipts of an acura purchase and install would actually be kinda of a neat conversation piece at an event. A 26k mile itr is WORTH considering and researching. It might be special after a careful restore.

You sure about that? It was always cloudy about the whole "dealer" thing. I know Comptech had backing from Acura, but the JRSC was, I thought, only sold by certain dealers and not factory backed like Comptech was (and Mugen was in the late 80's). You could get either from any dealer I believe. Not so with the JRSC.

Just like certain dealers sold AEM parts via the parts counter, but they had an outside deal with someone else and it was never factory backed.

You're probably right todd...maybe it was a dealer thing and not an acura thing. I just remember it being an option when i bought my itr brand new many moons ago. I thought about the kit for maybe...3 seconds before i declined. I thought it was neat though for them to offer that kit...and they told me theyd cover it in warranty if they install. I probably couldve thrown it all into financing but nah. I would still consider the car above if comp numbers are healthy.
