What were trying to fix when you broke tap?

Where were you doing it (on the car I'm assuming?)

you cant drill out a tap, you can try but probably wont work. A tap is made of carbide...pretty strong stuff.

You can drill it out with a carbide drill (or concrete drill if you're cheap like me), make sure you buy a few. There is a device called a tap extractor, it has prongs that fit into the channels in the tap, that may do the trick.

Taps have high hardness but are brittle, it will break not bend. You probably put too much side load on the tap, next time use a tapping fluid or oil to lubricate the tap. Also back out the tap occasionally, helps move the shavings and get oil to the cutting surface.

to the guy who said a tap extractor. taps are made of high speed steel. Very hard metal. only 2 ways that you can get it out, tap extractor(try this first) or a carbide drill (only do if #1 dosent work).
