Default 98 civic problem?

My daughter was driving her 98 civic and it overheated and started running poorly. When I got home it seemed to run fine but when it heated up I noticed the coolant fan did not run. I found the fuse had blown so I replaced it. The fan now runs but the car barely runs and the exhaust smells extremely rich.......Any ideas?

thanks.

I would suggest you check compression... being it was ok untill overheating... do a compression test.. if you dont have thhe kit to do it you can borrow it from most any parts store.

I have 140- 150 on each cylinder, the car has 250,000 miles on it.

Would an O2 sensor cause it to run that bad?
