loose control arm found
Ive been hearing some weird clanking for the last few days so I crawled under to see what I could find and this is what I found
IM not exactly sure what it is I think its a lower control arm
1 of the 2 bolts that hold it in place?
the bolt is broken of and still in that loose arm
can I just get a grade 8 bolt from lowes and put back through?
how dangerous is this?

your best bet is to order one from Honda, or better yet see if someone here has the correct flange bolt, as many people that have parts cars around, someone probably has one
What is that loose bar called ?
I see the strut or shock and it is attached, what is the name of that bar that goes to the side , looks like has some various rubber and is loose because of the broken bolt?
Keep in mind this is the front, not the rear
Ordering online won't work gotta big circle track race Saturday
I'm gonna hit the dealership up and see if they have one

if you have a fastenal near you they MIGHT have a metric flange bolt in a grade 10 or 12, would probably be ok for the track, but I would never trust lowes or home depot hardware in my suspension
I do have a fastenal near me
Wouldn't the dealer have that bolt?
It's not the shock bolt it's a strange fork with rubber just hangin loose clanking
No telling how long it's been like that and raced

are you sure its a bolt that goes in there and not a broken stud? go to a junkyard and grab another i just replaced mine today to add a front sway

you can see the bolt location in this diagram..

it doesn't look like that bolt is available from Honda, they'll want you to buy the entire lower control arm. Fastenal would be a good place to go.
a link from rockauto showing an aftermarket beck/arnley forged front lower control arm, see the gold colored bolts? That's the one that sheared off.

Also..I do not believe it's the sway/stabilizer bar, because that bar is on the top side of the lower control arm, it does not attach horizontally as this picture is showing.. definitely get this back together before driving it.

I checked out the drivers side and on one end of this bolt there isnt a hex head
IM not sure WHAT this thing is
I know its important but im not sure where to start on fixing this
I do have a local junkyard with several of the same civics there
but I hate to purchase the entire piece when I could possibly fix it with a single bolt
If this thing does slide out how on earth do you tighten one side if the other side doesnt have a head on it?
really concerned because I have a dirt track race saturday and not sure how to fix this
wont be able to run if I dont get it fixed ASAP

the other end has a nut on it
( this is the good side)
the passenger side is sheared and half missing with the un hex head half still stuck in the now loose arm

From: TRILLINOIS....WAY downtown, jerky.
Grade 8 bolts are standard thread/size. Thd bolts from honda are class 10.9 metric.
Do not confuse this. A class 8 metric bolt is significantly weaker than a SAE grade 8.
If you buy a grade 8 (SAE) bolt, that will work. Both, the grade 8 and metric 10.9 class bolts have ~130ksi yield strengths, IIRC. The 10.9 might be a touch higher, though.
You should be able to find a 10.9 class METRIC bolt. I think it's a M10x1.25 from the factory. Pair that with a matching nut.
That bolt holds the LCA halves together and is very critical.
From the factory, that is a pressed/knurled stud. So its self clinching once its tightened.

Will 96-00 civic control arm half
Fit my car?
It's a 94 hatch
Pretty sure 92-00 are about the same
Anyone confirm?
Or do I need 92-95 lower control arm half

I think the one on top is what you're talking about from the 4DR 93 civic. That extra hole is for the sway bar links to attach to the lower control arm. I had sent that in the links I replied to earlier in this thread.
