shift linkage on B16a CRX

how short should you cut and re-weld the shift linkage that comes with the B16a to fit your 2nd gen CRX?

if it is the gold SIR linkage, it should work. any 90-93 integra linkage can be made to work by removing 2.8 inches, definitely no more than 3".
