Default Bought 2 Crx HF's Looking For Advice.

Just bought a 89 and 90 crx hf, got them together for 1500 which i couldnt pass up. The 89 has 212k, studders a little and vibrates a bit specially at idle, but when getting on the gas and driving seems mostly fine. Backup lights dont work which ive heard could be the switch. For some reason he was saying it has a vaccuum issue and he unplugged the line going to the egr valve which didnt seem to make a difference either way not sure what thats about.

The 90 has 322k and from what the owner said it was owned mostly by an old couple and taken good care of. He put a clutch kit and cable in it but the thing has a light grinding rubbing sound from the clutch area unless you push clutch pedal down then it goes away, not sure if a throwout bearing can do that or if its input or output shaft issue or something, other big issue is it has a worse missing problem, the idle will drop real low and sometimes die, it will slowly rev up decent but if u try to rev it with more then a small amount of throttle it will just miss and studder real bad.

Both have a crap load of oil all over trans area which i guess is either valve cover or dizzy seal not sure what else it could be, looking for general advice on these things, not sure what parts when ordering NEED to be HF specific either kinda hard to tell when looking up parts. Gonna get a manual and start testing sensors and stuff, check timing in the time being. Anywhere to get clips and fasteners, hardware for these things cheap? for like interior panels and the side molding? thanks for anything.

Yea i only planned on buying one and this guy had 2 both with some bads and some goods and worked out a package deal for both, hopefully wont be too much of a nightmare getting them going good. I couldnt pass it up being that its 2 HFs i need a commuter anyways.

For the EGR, try pulling a vacuum on the EGR. Use some spare line and suck on the end.
The EGR should hold vacuum. Often they fail when the rubber diaphragm inside gets old and cracks making a vacuum leak.

The line hooks up to a solenoid that opens at various times while you drive so that it correct that you aren't finding vacuum on it all the time.

Ok thanks i picked 2nd one up today and guy gave me a manual with it which is awesome so i can troubleshoot crap. The blue one had the timing a little crappy found out dizzy was freakin loose so got it lined up on center of 3 marks with gun and spout jumped and its a little better still vibrates a little more then it should prolly something else, can anyone tell me what these connectors are? one is i guess the defroster and the other on pass side near hatch im not sure, my reverse lights dont work yet my license plate lights do and bulbs are good. I cant find where the connector goes to though. thanks

I don't see how there would be a difference.

I'd just make one nice. If you want to repaint it, now is the time. Strip it down and start from the bottom up. Turn one into a parts car and after you have sourced everything you need, sell the shell and what is left over.
