My 89 crx out of no where just wont start, i was on my way to school and it just stalled, and i got it going then on my way home it died again and i had it towed to my house. I just changed the fuel filter, i checked the fuel line to see if the fuel pump was going and it was squirting gas out so its not that. I was thinking it was the distributor or the main relay. Im pretty sure its not the injectors but a car can still run on 1 or atleast fire up. I checked the spark plugs and they were fine. Im out of idea's of what it could be, my wiring is pretty messed up from who ever i got it from, so it could be a ground somewhere but i checked the ones i can see and they are grounded..i need some help guys! I need my baby back on the road

 

Is you car cranking over at all?

 

Yeah it cranks but wont turn over, i tried spraying starter fluid in it but it only worked once and then died right after.

 

So it did turn on and run for a few seconds when you sprayed starting fluid in the throttle body? If so, its def a fuel problem. Can you hear the main relay click when you turn the key to the accessory position?

 

Yeah it ran for a few second then cut off right after, but what i dont understand is 2 days ago, a day after it broke down and i got it home, it ran and i drove it around my block then it died again. Now it wont start, but what else fuel related could it be? Its not the fuel pump, or fuel filter..

 

When you turn the key to the accessory position can you hear the main relay click and the fuel pump prime (should hear a buzz coming from the tank area). It's got to be something fuel related because if it wasn't getting spark it still wouldn't have fired up off of starting fluid.

 

Nvm, i fixed it. It was the distributor cap points, they were corroded, i used sand paper and grinded it off now its fine but atleast i know the next time if it breaks down ill just change the distributor. Ty for all who commented! EF Love!
