Default One of the two front fans doesn't start

Temp started rising and AC went hot when idling yesterday. Noticed that one of the two radiator fans isn't turning on.

Are both fans on the same fuse and thermostat?

What should I check?

Thanks

'03 CRV btw

Can just be the fan motor needs replacement.

1. Which fan is not working? Driver's side: radiator fan. Passenger side: A/C condenser fan.

2. The fan motors are protected by separate fuses. Under-hood Fuse No. 4 (20A) for radiator fan and Fuse No. 1 (20A) for condenser fan.

3. You can apply direct 12 volt battery power (+) and ground (-) to the fan motor that is not working to see if it is a faulty motor. It should spin strongly.

awesome info, thanks tech8.

It's the passenger-side fan, which explains why the AC got hot when idling. When moving, it was just fine, blowing cold air.

I'll try the fuses first...

Both fans suppose to run for cooling even if the A/C is not on, if the coolant temperature at the fan switch (located at the bottom of the radiator) is above 199 degrees F.

So, you want both fans to work.
