Guess where my PCV valve was hiding. D16Y8
For most cars, it's simpliest thing you can change under the hood. Usually takes 30 seconds to do it but not with our D16Y8 engines.
I bought a new PCV valve last year and tried to change it. But I coulnd't figure out where it was located until yesterday. I jacked up the car to change the oil and removed the oil filter.
Suddenly I decided to change the PCV valve( I heard I have to get under to change it). I put the flashlight where the PCV hose(?) goes into (b/w 2nd and 3rd injector area) and looked from under the car.LOL,I could see the PCV valve right above the oil filter(filter is off now). It is impossible to change it without taking your filter out, and it is still bitch to get it out of. DOn't bother trying to pull it out with your fingers. Just get a flathead crew driver and pop it.
Anyone can fit their hand into this hole ? Guess not.

See how long it is.

Wish I could take some pictures from under the car but my hands were to dirty to take a picture.
I'm posting this because everytime I or other D16Y8 people ask how to change the PCV valve, no one really answered correctly. Some shops told me to just pull it hard from the top. I tried but it was too tight, Thank God.

Maybe, maybe you can get it off, but how are you gonna put it back?
I can't really picture something goes into that hole and take the PCV valve off.
It was so tight, I had to use a screwdriver. Oh, and it's in sideway so you can't pull it towards you.
Have you done it from the top?
Like others said, It's an Acura EL cover.

I have an EW1 type engine in an '86 Civic Wagon. I spent about two months searching for the PCV valve, replacement in hand and convinced myself that there was none - that the previous owner must have removed it and not replaced it! Finally, after a very long time looking, I found it in the same place you describe. I tried to access it from the top but my hands are WAY too big, have been since I was 4 yrs old! And from the bottom, the oil filter was in the way of even being able to see if it were possible. I took it to a shop and had them do it - they said they had to remove the manifold I think. It was terrible - cost $150 to replace a $6 part! Now that I know you were able to access it from below... I may try that in a few years when it has to get done again. As for photos, I can insert one of those later today.

yeah thanks, i have a y8 engine sitting in my garage however the previos owner may have removed the pcv valve because they put a z6 manifold on it which has the valve on the top. Just need to know what a stock y8 pcv valve looks like and where it should go.

See the small red circle indicating where my PCV hides. It's hard to see in this image... but if I removed the intake/airfilter and found the fuel filter (follow red hose from fuel pump to the right and it connects with the aux fuel filter in this car) the PCV hose is located in the engine compartment behind the aux fuel filter. The hose looks like any other fat vacuum hose with clamps on it - nothing remarkable. The PCV valve is within the hose on this car. If I removed the clamps holding the hose in place, the PCV valve on this car would then be visible. There is a black grommet covering the short (1.5 inches) and thin metal valve. YOu can see the drawing for where it is on your car by going to http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com (website for Majestic Honda) and making like you're going to buy a part for your car... they give a whole schematic for every different system with everything labled. Hope that helps you find it!
