How is everyone~ red lines to 9K?
mine tops out at 8400 sharp~
as i seen in this https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=303246&page=1 vid and also from other itr's on this board and vcd's from japan all itrs seems to rev all the way up to 9 K
is it because of non facotry fuel cut set up or was it like that from day 1?

b2finity back from the dead!!!!
My fuel cut off is at 8.4K sharp on the stock tach. I might be the only **** with one.
They could have set the red line to 9.2k. People do it all the time.

as u can see in the above post, second video, my car's tach goes up to about 8700 and doesnt even hit the rev limiter. my tach must be way off DOH!
I am not taking either side at the moment, but... I was under the impression that after 8400rpm you begin to lose power, though you still may have power, it will not be as much as what you had at 8400 with a stock motor... I am not disagreeing with anyone here, but I would like to see evidence if I am incorrect.

Actually there is...You show me Dyno charts of a Stock B18C5 that makes power after 8,400 and i will be impressed...
If your tach shows fuel cut at 8,400rpms it is off. Fuel cut is at 8,600 (8,590 on mine to be exact). My tach shows about 8,800rpm. 200rpm off isn't that much to fuss about if you ask me.
I know from this forum that our tach is inaccurate but living in northeast, the weather has turned chilly and dry at 40F in the early morning.
I merge on the highway while stupid old man in a Saturn tailgated me so I punched it in second and redline to 3rd, then 4th. Both times i glanced down at tach and i shifted at 9K because rev limiter didn't come on. I was amazed and of course old man became a dot in my mirrors.

there is NO point in taking it up past 8,400 becuase there is NO more power up there. So don't worry about it
The power is dropping, it doesn't suddenly stop with power delivery after 8000 rpm.
If you want to maximise the area under the power curve (with time on the X-axis and not rpm), you'll have to shift at 8900 or something...
BTW the stock tach is off. My rev limiter works at 8900 rpm on the tach...
My tach is off by 200rpm. Vtec engages exactly at 6k.

So, you saying the car doesn't make power past indicated 8400 or actual 8400? Kinda hard to make power much past 8400 when actual fuel cut is 8500 anyway.

Problem is just cause the Tach says it is past 8400 doesn't mean the engine really is. So I might indicate 8400 and actually be doing 7600. So on my tach indicated 8500 might still be making power.

I can show you the dyno of my R from 2000 (stock).
The power drops at 8000 already
This was made during the tuning period:
No more dropping til cutoff..
It's also not just the fact that horsepower dropping off at wht point, but that when when you up-shift, you'll be landing in a stronger part of the power band too. Shifting at higher rpms can sometimes benefit the pull in next gear.

We discussed that a while ago.
