How to identify Jdm bronze glass? What came oem in japan?
I bought an 88 std hatch a while back from a fellow h-t member.
Some of the mods were very nice, but didn't make sense to me:
Built NA 2L b18a1 with a jg ported head and crower cams, mad box, power windows, etc.
Well the car has crappy tint on the back 3 windows, but the door glass is apparently just bronze?
Is this the fabled Jdm bronze glass?
It says temperlite and ASAHI on it.
Did some Jdm EF's have bronze glass all around, including the hatch glass and the windshield?

its bronze.
theres no aftermarket bronze glass.
and they pop up on ebay. installing door glass is easy. finding and installing any other window is a lot harder since it doesnt just bolt off and on. so less common to find and more expensive to buy.
it was a very early 90s japanese car thing. some US acura legends have the same bronze tint all around too.

Windshield is the most difficult to source. The rear glass isn't too bad since you can get the whole hatch door.
If you hold up a piece of paper behind it it will be obviously brown. It's difficult to capture on camera sometimes, the white balance will auto-adjust. It will either be brown (JDM glass), blue (AUDM/Euro/US) or clear (no tint).
Trending Topics
I did a little research -

The ADGFFA are likely etched in by a previous owner for tractability in case of theft.
TEMPERLITE is the brand.
ASAHI is the glass manufacturer.
DOT-20 is the code the Department of Transportation (American standard) assigned to ASAHI. Glass used in the U.S.A. legally needs a DOT code. (Glass on the JDM glass-top CRX apparently doesn't have a DOT code. Same goes with a lot of headlights from other countries.)
AS2 (AS1, AS3) is another American standard for the light transmission (tint darkness) of the glass. AS1 must be windshield, AS2 can be side glass with 70% light transmission, AS3 is special purpose dark glass.
M244 (M203) is the model numbers from ASAHI. Probably different on each window around the car.
E6 in the circle is assigned by UNECE (Europe) to say the Belgium certified the window.
43R-0034 is stating Conformity with the European standard of safety ECE R43.
SOOOOOooooooo...
So it seems that the only meaningful number in that jumble of numbers is the M244 shown in the picture.
I had no luck finding anything on the internet that associates what M244 (M283 on your other pics) means to ASAHI.
My guess is that all glass offered for specific model and year(s) will have the same M number - like M203 will be on all rear windows.
Would you mind walking around the car and getting all those M numbers and posting them here?

the 89 Accord SEI also came with the bronze glass, very rare option, I dont see many of them that still have it
You're right, it's crappy tint that the PO had on there, but no care bc it keeps thieves away.
If I pull it all off, it's conspicuously bronze glass - at least on 4 of the windows.
I wasn't sure what the etching was for - whether that's a Jdm or usdm thing done, or standard for bronze glass.
I took all those pics for other people to compare.

I tried to find the pictures of the Accord SEI to see if I could find those numbers, but all the pictures of the ones with the glass have quit working

I know even in the 80's the bronze glass was hard to find, I know people who tried to find it when these cars were new, I would assume there was only one manufacturer
