Noob here. While helping a buddy clean out his garage, low and behold we found these pistons. He rented the house out for years and some of the tenants left behind some goodies apparently.

We would like to know if they look damaged because they look relatively new to us. Of course visual inspection is not gonna tell us everything, but its a start.

They look good but I don't think there's any rings on them. If there for a d16 that's probably why they left them.

You must have skipped over that picture of the piston with the wrist pin that got sledge hammered in lmao..

I don't think that the engine displacement had anything to do with why they were left behind, a bottom built D16 can put down some pretty impressive numbers..

I would have those big ends honed too before you use them, that rust can throw off your bearing tolerances.

too bad i don't have an EK anymore. o well. finders keepers still. I'm gonna see if there are any d16 dreamers in the marketplace forum.

after finding some acura chain tensioners, i'm guessing he and his wallet went K-series and never looked back

Pistons look good and almost new except for the one with some gashes around the pin.
I would not be afraid to use them.

The gouged one looks fine to me..

The part of the pidton that doesnt look fine are the tops..

They arent supposed to be shiny. Get sandpaper and a scotch brite pad and rough up the tops and smooth over any sharp edges. This includes the corners.

Those rods are Probe which also make Scat's line.

After reading up a bit about pistons and rods I took a closer look. Here are closeups of the one nicked piston. I also noticed a few tiny nicks on the top of the same piston but I have no idea if this damage is negligible or significant ... anyone care to enlighten? All the rest of them look pretty clean.
