Default All new a/c components...problem

ok guys I had my local mechanic do the work and it cools ok but im getting this whistling behind the glove box now and the compressor shuts on and off rapidly....what could it be ???

also he flushed everything before installing the new stuff and charged and vacuumed the system manually could that be the issue ?? maybe there is air in the system ?

I will take it to my friends shop tomorrow that has an a/c machine and pull a complete evac on it and recharge with r134 and pag 100

any tips ???

Car?

When the system rapidly cycles, does the A/C button light turn on and off?

It could be an electrical problem, for example a bad heater control panel.

The A/C button light turning off on its own is the sign of an electrical problem.

Does the whistle appear as the system turns on, and off? In almost all cases, a low refrigerant level will produce this symptom. When the refrigerant gets too low, it boils instantly (flashes) through the expansion valve, producing a noise that can be very audible.

This can also be caused by an expansion valve that is choked on one side, producing a whistling effect.

PAG100 is not the correct oil, PAG46 is. Not many vehicles use 100, only 150 (GM mostly) and 46 (everyone else). SP-10 and ND-8 oils can use PAG46 without any problems.

I don't have the A/C button schematic for your car handy at the moment. That needs to be referenced for the electrical portion.

System could be overcharged. Can you rent a gauge and confirm pressure before vacuuming?

edit: I actually redid my ac system as well, new seals, clean lines and fresh oil and new compressor, new expansion valve. No whistling here.

Testing the button to isolate the random turning on and off would be quite simple, but I don't believe that is your problem. It would have to be in the heater control panel, the 5V rail that the A/C switch uses would have to be sensed on somehow, and that part (wherever that is, it isn't shown) has failed. Replace the panel if the button tests okay.

Does the A/C button light remain on or turn off on it's own occasionally as you mentioned earlier in the thread?

not again im thinking maybe I turned it off due to the clutch cyling on and off quickly when I first got the car back before I redid the r134 and oil

If the A/C worked fine after the recharge and recently the performance declined, then perhaps there's a refrigerant leak.

we did the recharge at 8-9am it was a decent day not too hot it was blowing cool at idle nothing crazy like my g8

also the machine we use does pressure and leak tests I wonder f I should add another oz of r134 to put it at max factory capacity

Use the machine to performance test the system as per the service manual instructions.
