Need Help- Transmission Problem ??
Hi,
I am newbie and need some you senior member’s advice. My car is Accord 2000 EX have 112 K miles on it, Purchased this car 2 year back and have only drove 4000 miles in these 2 years. I use this car only in weekends just for grocery/shopping /nearby and never drove more than 50 miles in a single trip. Have done 2 Oil changes so far at Honda dealer.
Last week very first time I was going for a 125 mile drive and my car suddenly jerked on Garden state parkway (In New Jersey) @ 105 miles, it started slow down with some humming noise. The RPM was going high & low and it was not catching with the speed. I had to stop it on the emergency roadway lane and got it towed to one of the nearest Pep boy’s center. The mechanic checked it and shared that it's transmission issue and I need to get it replaced the entire transmission.
I got it checked with another local mechanic 2 days back and he also echoed that its transmission issue.
I noticed coolant was low, after adding coolant; I went to another mechanic today and asked to change the transmission fluid. I shared the problem because he wanted to know why I want to change the fluid. He examined the car and as per him it's not a transmission issue. He used the error code reader and first time it showed following codes-
41-01 incorrect gear ration
47-01 2-3 shift malfunction
He immediately ran the reader next time and it did not show any error code.
As per him its Honda accord known issue which happens around 80K-100 K mile and something need to be done. He put my car in first gear and drove very fast around 50-60 feet, then he put in reverse and drove back and then he drove around by. I've no idea what he did to fix it but as per him it's fixed and I am good to go and I will have to get back to him after 80 K miles again
At this point I am really now sure if he is faking or seriously he has fixed the problem. Should I get it checked some where else , because I am still scared to go anywhere if it stops again. Please suggest.

If he used an OBDII scanner the codes would have been in a P**** readout.
Either a P07** code or a P17** code, which relate to transmission faults.
If he just jumpered the two wire blue connector then it would have only been '41' and '47'
I'm guessing he did the two wire trick as the codes make more sense.
OBDI code reading(two wire blue connector)
41. Shift Control System *D4 does not light*
47. Mechanical Problem in Hydraulic System
OBDII code reading(using OBDII port)
P0730. Shift Control system *D4 does not light*
P1751. Mechanical Problem in Hydraulic System
Can you verify what trouble codes were set?

I do remember the codes were not in "P" format. Not sure if he used OBDII or OBDI, but he was having this device connected with car and selected car make, year. After few seconds the device displays shows that it's able to conenct with car and loaded all the information then he ran the diagnosis menu and these two error codes got displayed. Please suggest what could be issue and what should be my next step.
Just one update- I have been driving in nearby areas and did not notice anything unusual. The engine check light is off from the day mechanic fixed it. Any suggestion if I need to get it checked anything else just for peice of mind.
