I don't get what u'r saying.
If you just got it, how come your photo looks like someone else's on this board?
if you're asking why he got a filter cover and you didn't, they switched intake elements I believe.
Stock R - Who's waiting for his J's to come in from JDM land hopefully with the proper credit card statement

My J's came with that cover.... the cover over the filter, if that is what you are talking about. I think Mike M said there are different versions of the J's, one with the filter cover, one without. The one without seems to have a better filter. Might want to search... I think the in IPS Racing specials thread (or one of the many J's intake threads) there was some discussion about the filter cover.
That's a pic from an older thread... not the thread-starter's car.

actually that pic is my car, and i did start the J's intake thread, but it got locked up cause of immature posts. that came with the intake, but some got the ones without the cover...
Not a lot of room to work with, but i'm sure it is possible. Make a CF mugen intake-style cold air duct that fits over the filter.
Personally, I'd just make a heatshield around the filter/surrounding area that blocks the hot engine air from getting to the filter.
Chris - who was going to try to make one like the mugen intake, then decided it may cost more to fabricate one than it would to just buy the mugen.

I bent my a/c lines and reconnected them to their original location, only UNDER the metal supporting bracket this time. Worked fine for me....
Make sure and pull the rubber tubing OVER the intake, unlike me.
It looks like it ought to sit inside of it since the rubber tubing is so damn narrow.

The J's Racing intake is only good if you can find a way to prevent it from sucking in hot air in the engine bay.
