Default OBD2 connector location, '98 Accord

Hi, I have not been able to locate the OBD2 connector on my '98 Accord
(6 cylinder engine). Can anyone help? In most pictures I saw the connector was supposed to be under the dash, driver's side, next to the hood latch.
Nothing there I could see. Could anyone help?
many thanks in advance,
venpol

Thanks asoRm
Did you have to remove the ashtray in order to get to it?

98-02 U.S. and Canada Accords have the DLC (OBD port) on the driver's side just above the area of the hood release. It is not behind the ash tray like a 97.

If you are in another country, you may not have an OBD port for your model year.

Thanks Tech8,
Certainly It is not anywhere near the hood latch. But it is very interesting what you say. The car is in fact in another country, Switzerland. But according to the VIN it was made in the U.S. (Ohio) but obviously for the foreign market, the
speedometer, for example, is just in Kilometers/hr. Is it possible that it does not have a port? How else can one diagnose a problem?
thanks again,

Although the car may have been manufactured in the U.S., it is an export. It probably doesn't have an OBD-II port, as not all countries adopted OBD standards in earlier years.

It most likely still has Honda's 5-pin blue Data Link Connector (DLC) and the 2-P blue Service Check Connector. They are most likely located under your passenger under dash area like what you see in this link:

Thanks again for the reply and the link. I am back in the U.S. until labor day and will
not be able to look for the blue connectors until I go back. It is all very interesting, I could have never imagined that.
