00 Civic Si acceleration but no power or revving
Hi on my way home from work today when I got off the freeway and came to a stop at the red light I was unable to move my car. When I accelerated my engine did not rev and it wasn't until a few mins before it slowly started to move. Now it requires me to basically floor it for the car to move and at an extremely slow speed. Even when I shift up to 5th gear I cant get the car to go over 40mph. Anyone know whats wrong with my car?

Edit: forgot to add it takes a bit for the car to start up

do you have fuel in the cylinders, spark at the plugs, compression, and airflow?
Bleed the clutch first.
Honda master clutch cylinders like to leak. Your get air in the clutch line and what your saying will happen.
It happen to me on a day it got really hot.
Bleed the clutch and all was fine.

How would I test whether my engine is bogging? Do a compression test for every cylinder?
if its the engine You should be able to feel it too, do you think you can explain what's happening in more detail?

I found these directions:
here what you need to do before the beeding starts. you need a clear tube and a small clear bottle to stick the clear tube in it fill the clear bottle up till you cover the bottom of the tube with brake fluid about an 1 in. or more. the other end of the clear tube goes on the nipple. ok ur almost ready to beed the line.
step 1. find another person to push on the pedal about 5-6 times and hold it there.
step 2. remember that clear tube on the nipple there?? make sure the end is in the bottom of the clear bottle this prevent air getting back into the system when you close the nipple.
step 3. open the nipple and let the fluid and air out. it should bubble out means air is leaving the sys.
step 4. close the nipple do the 2 more times and make sure you check and add fluid in the master cyl.
step 5. when the bubbleing stops and fluid is going out in a steady stream means you system in now air free!! your padel push should be close to factory or better.
oh and the cyl. its sounds like you got a bad unit. replacement is the best thing to do.

When I accelerate the rpm doesn't go up fast at all even when I'm flooring it.
But right now when I went out to the car to start it so I can get a better description for you it still took a bit of time to start but it accelerated fine at least through 2nd gear. But there was a strong smell of rubber burning when I got out.
Edit: Could it have been maybe the engine or something was overheating? Because the day it happened the engine was extremely hot and when I took out the dipstick to check my oil (thinking maybe the oil was bad or something) the dipstick caught on fire for a sec.

Hmmm when the engine starts it doesn't rev up and I don't hear the engine when its on. It is extremely quiet and when idle the car doesn't make much noise / the rpm varies between 1k - 1.5k.

are your spark plug wires melting? Does your engine temp gauge work properly?
Also I couldn't see anything melting. My spark plug wires seemed fine, and when I took out my spark plugs they seemed ok to me.
haha yeah man I jumped and almost dropped my dipstick, I think it was due to it being over 100 that day and my engine was extremely hot, I burnt my hand opening my hood when I got home and went to look at my engine to see why my car wasn't working.

add another thing to the list I gave you, this one more important than the others. Go rent a block tester, check if your anti-freeze is leaking into the combustion chamber or if the exhaust is leaking into your anti-freeze.
thats good at least, there was a guy maybe a month ago and his wires melted into the valve cover and spark plug tubes, and he must've spent hours scratching that **** off.

yeah my truck had a bad headgasket, but its a rusty beater so I didnt give a ****. Most of the time it hesitated and wouldn't rev, but once in a while it would clear up and it'd work good. Bad headgaskets are weird like that, it happens alot with these civics, I'd say as often as it happens to 5M supras.
