Default ???(safely) Removing road tar from wheels???

Can anyone suggest a safe, non abrasive wheel cleaner that will remove the road tar that builds up on the inside of the wheel? I have a set of white wheels that are not coming clean...

Thanks all....

just use gasoline!
it will dissolve that shiot, then just wipe it clean and wipe it down with soap and water. easy

That actually makes sence...oil-based vs. oil based= results, I'll try that one on a spot and see the results, thanks
