Default Expo 2003: What's the deal?

We've only got two months left in 2002, and time is of the essence. Anyone hear of any developments concerning this much anticipated event?

Ive heard the track is "tentative" and announcements wont be made until it is a sure thing. Id like to know ANYTHING, even if it will change. My main thing is, what side of the coast is it gonna be on?

In due time. Getting info from a track isn't as easy as you might think or woudl like to believe. We are working with a few folks to see who comes through first but not even ECHC schedules are known yet.

Should have some details in the next 2 weeks. We may only have 2 months in 2002 but that means we have 14 months to have the 2003 Expo

Might be easier to tell you what isn't . . . .

VIR isn't. THey have unquestionably said they did not have a slot for us.

I am trying to find tracks with availability and cost in mind. I have ruled out the hottest summer months (June-August). Short of that I am pretty open. We shall see what the powers that be prode us in the next couple of weeks.

Just as a note I have weekly emails since the last part of July with these folks. Getting a track date just isn't as easy as calling the track and plopping down $$ for a deposit. It matters who you are . . . And we are still establishing ourselves.

Bear with me!

You guys have got to be realistic about this. THat would cost us $400+ per person if they DID have a date for us. ANd that doesn't seem to be an option. We might start planning Expo 2006 at VIR (Seriously)

I suggested Road America to Trey about a month ago. What's the update on that? Is cost really the issue with all of us?

Edit: Spellling defishuncy tooday.

clammit!

What happens if we pre-register and at the last minute we find out that our ITR is unable to make the event? Could we substitute another car to run the event in place of the ITR?

Road America wasn't really a consideration. We already had the Expo in the northern/midwest areas.

Also YES cost is a huge factor. THe point of this is to ge as many ITR's in one place at the same time. The more it costs the fewer people can attend. I realize everyone wants this to be at "their" home track but it has many more factors than what the best track is (We all know that is VIR) but also cost, dates available, other event conflicts (For sponsors and instructors). But cost and dates and location are my 3 largest concerns.

I promise I will post when I have something to share but to this point we are waiting for the tracks to throw us a bone so we can proceed. If I get 2 or 3 options and they are considered pretty equal I will definitely offer up a vote.

For now the only thing we could use is an ITR owner who has an in at Summit Point, VIR, Road Atlanta and the like. . . . .

Thanks for all the hard work, asahi.

Ah, hell, let's just scrap the whole east coast track and price. Let's go to Laguna Seca with all the California R-Stunna's....
