Default got a b20 block b20/vtec?

Ok so I got me a good deal on a b20b block with main caps and crank, Had a few quick questions that I did search for, but did not really get the correct answer, maybe to specific on what I want to know. First the block did not come with a rear main seal cover, can I use my gsr one? No oil pan so is it ok if I use my gsr one with oil sump? I have seen the GE girdle, should i use it and if so, do I still need to get it line bored if it comes with the step down dowel pins?

I have a gsr block now with ls crank and eagle rods, Can I re use the eagle rods for the b20 crank? Should I bore it to 84.5 or just leave the stock bore if it looks good with a good hone.
Last, bare with me guys, since I'm using the b16 head what pistons do you recommend, something with good clearance.

Im going with the GE b20/vtec kit that comes with everything so I think I'm good there. Thank you guys for the knowledge.

Actually every single question you asked has a thread DEDICATED to exactly the correct answers you are looking for. I am on my phone otherwise I would waste my time posting every one for you. Stop being lazy and I promise you will find every answer.

Any parts cross reference questions can be found by comparing part numbers from the readily available Honda and Acura dealership parts websites.

BUT to actually be helpful the answer is YES to every question. We are not mind readers and can see or measure the bores over the internet - do as needed. Obviously a B20 crankshaft is the same exact thing as a LS crankshaft.

Your last questions are so vague it makes them impossible to answer. You gave us NOTHING about the setup to even remotely help you. So you are trying to have clearance for stock valves and B16 cams? Or are you trying to clearance oversized valves and Pro 3 cams? We assume forged pistons with bigger valve reliefs cut in but for all we know you are trying to go with a stock style machined for the rods.

Details, details, details... being vague will get you no help here.

yes the rods you have can fit the B20 and the oil pan will fit as wells. I am using a gsr girdle on mines but that will be really up to use I read in some treads that it is usefully and other that it is not, for the rear seal I would use a B20 one to be safe. and the Boring it is also going to be up to you alot of people say not to cuz the walls on a B20 are already thin/weak but really a b20 is a bored out B18(LS) motor

You are correct there is one that cross ref part numbers but not for oil pan and not for the rear main seal cover. as for b16 head it has stock valves with blox vt and blox type c cams. Reason why I asked about going to 84.5 is in ref to the top question about Clarence, so A good response would be, if you stay stock bore you can go with these pistons, if you go this bore then these pistons. You will have issues with this piston if you go this route. I will double search to see if I can get answers to this. Thank you.

Thank you for answering my question. Also thank you for having the knowledge to read what I wrote before pusing off to the search which does not give what oil pan you can user or if the gsr rear main cover, not the seal but the cover can be used.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question, but the diameter (size or bore as you put it) of the piston does not effect clearances nearly as much as the dome of the piston and valve reliefs. Bore size is one of the smallest factors (at least for MOST street motors) when worrying about clearance. If you want some insurance run a slightly thicker HG or clay it when you have the cams degreed in correctly...done deal.

Im sorry what I ment to say, is when you look for pistons, certain companies like ycp rs machine and weisco sell only certain mm. So thats way I asked about bore size, so I know my options when choosing the pistons for my build. I should have been more clear I apologize for that. So with that being said, I heard rs machine which has been proven to work and no hurt the pocket. I will be running eagle rods and thinking about staying around 11.5 to 12.3 ish to use pump gas 93 oct. I have seen CP pistons as well. Correct me if I"m going about explaining this lol.

do you know if you have the b20z block or the b20b? if I remember correctly the b20z comp are a lil higher then the b20b not by much tho. For the pistons im running supertech 12:5:1 with eagle rods but for a daily I would recommended something a little lower. You should look up RS Machine they make a pretty good copy of the type r pistons but with the bore you would need for a b20

Its a b20 but it did not come with rods or pistons. I got the block for free. It came with crank and main caps and bolts. So I was going to go with eagle rods arp main bolts. Trying to stay around 11.5 to 12.1 so I can use pump gas 93 oct. Now wondering if I should go with a gsr head or keep my b16. I know I want to get it p&P but its my only car ya know. Thinking Px for intake mani even tho I have the type are one. Might as well keep it at 84mm bore. Its pretty clean block. Still going to take to machine shop to make sure its ok and get it hot tanked and decked if need be.

type r intake mani on the B16 head will be better than a Px on a GSR head. I'd put money on it...B20V's like shorter runners.
