01 Acura TL seats into 98 Civic Help?
I found a sweet set of Acura TL seats (leather, power, heated) for $50. So I had to buy them!
Now I am faced with the nightmare of getting them into my civic. they are SO CLOSE to bolting right on... Is it easier to fab mounts or to cut new holes?

Yep, that was me, and that was for CL-S seats.
OP, take a picture of the bottom of the seat and post it. I might be able to help you. Also, if you're good with a soldering iron, I might be able to help you wire them in, too.

I've talked to a mod about it before, it's just a righteous pain in the urethra. That's why I consolidated it all into my build thread. There's links and write-ups galore in there.

Is it crazy hard to wire up the heated seats? Cuz I was thinking about just wiring the power and not worry about heat, I live in Mississippi anyways.
Ill post pics in a bit...
Those rails look to be exactly the same as my CL-S rails. You should be able to follow my write-up to the tee for the physical install.
The wiring for heat is actually dead simple. You'll just need the switch, and a couple of relays. There are multiple OEM switches out there, but anything from 96-00 from a Civic or CRV should be simple to use. IIRC the one I'm using is from a CDM CRV. I like it because instead of being two separate buttons, it's two buttons on one body. Looks like this

The wiring for the power functions is a royal pain in the ***. You'll need either the complete wiring harness out of the donor car, plus multiple EC boxes, or a small pile of relays, a distribution block, some wire, and a soldering setup. I went with the relays and solder method. If you want to make the power work, just let me know, and I can dig through my old notes and see if I can remember how I wired everything.

I am a wiring novice, I hardly even know what a relay is haha. But i THINK i have the OEM harnesses.
Ill work on the rails tomorrow and then we can worry about wiring
I mean the OEM harness from the donor car, the Acura TL. The amount of stuff from the TL that you would need to make it work is kind of crazy, and quite honestly, I don't even know how to make it work 100% that way.
Also, unlike in the write up, I found it interesting when messing with them earlier that the seatbelts dont fit. So I already swapped the holsters(?) which was easy enough.
If you're not interested in the seat heaters, then wiring up the power seat functions should be straightforward. All diagrams I post here and below are taken from the 2004 Acura TL service manual:

ok, Im not sure if I have that. The guy who pulled them from the donor car cut all the wires; he didnt pull any of the connectors out, but cut the wires PAST the connectors, so I have both sides of all the connectors. Not sure if that helps any...

...it's entirely possible that the TL seats you want to use are a LOT easier than the CL-S seats. Apply power and ground to the right leads, and you should be good. The CL-S seats have all sorts of other memory functions and ****, so I had to hardwire the switches to relays, and pass the motors through them in a specific way.
Well now I have a problem. The guy I got these from said they were from a 2001, but the headrests on it did not come on the TL, CL, or CL-S of 2001. Is there an easy way to identify what year and model a seat came from? I have heard the wiring for these between 2001 and 2003 changed quite a bit...
Also, mine has the manual lumbar support on the driver seat and none on the passenger... is this like yours Notaracist?

Here is some pics of the wiring... look familiar?
First two pics are of drivers side, second 2 are of passenger. Looks like 10 pins on the passenger side and a **** ton on the drivers (for power that is). Looks like the heat runs through separate connectors
