Big Brake Upgrade on DX EF front Knuckle
ok now i major questions in this post and on forum facts it shows you can do this upgrade on EX knuckles with Accord wagon brakes and Prelude Vtec Rotor.
http://www.ef-honda.com/main/viewtopic.php?t=38524
my question here is can you do this upgrade with DA 90-93 Integra Knuckles?
reason i ask is because i can only locate 1 set of EX EF knuckles but for 3 bills and im not diggin that vs the DA 120.00.
Second question is in the link i posted there is a guy that says you can do S2000/RSX Calipers on DX knuckles with the VW Rotor? can this really be done? im asking because i just may go that route instead of heading to the Local PicknPull in 100% weather. aw well i just re read the post and looks like they removed all responses.

Check out Fastbrakes.com for a look at some of the options.
No on the EG knuckles. Geometry is different.

DA knuckles will work, but they do change the suspension geometry slightly. They are also several pounds heavier per side.
I believe any brake upgrade on the DX knuckles requires machining, or custom brackets.

i know i can use the DA knuckles guys what i am saying is if i swap the DA knuckle in what are my upgrades from there? or let me make it easier what upgrade options are for DA Knuckles? also what upgrades can i do on the DX Knuckles using stop parts. im not trying to blow 150 on a adapter i can make at work but i rather just find a OEM Part instead. like the DX knuckle with big brake upgrade.
i found a list of parts for a DX upgrade with
91 EX Rotor
Accord wagon Brake Caliper (17CL15VN)
Accord or prelude Vtec Brake Caliper Mount (25T)
1/8 or 2.5-3mm shave on the mounting surface of the Caliper Bracket or a wheel spacer
of the thickness of 2.5-3mm.
any one confirm this works?
supposedly its like a ITR Caliper on a EX/DA sized rotor that fits DX/LX/SI 88-91 EF Knuckles but i want a confirm before i try this. was thinking of going on a Sunday morning my only day off and playing at the local picknpull

Once you have the da knuckles, you can do all of the same brake upgrades as any integra or EX civic. ITR calipers/11" rotors, nsx calipers, spoon monoblocks, pretty much all of the great ones
No you cant use eg ex or dc knuckles on your ef.
Yes you ca use da knuckles on your ef but will major alignment needed.
I dont like using da unless your main reason is to go with larger wheel bearing.
To upgrade your ef dx si lx brakes just keep the knuckle you have.
I would reccomend you getting expensive performance pads like hawk plus (not hps) or step up to s2000 pads which you will have a lot more race pad selection like hawk Cobalt carbotech ect... you can use s2000 pads with your stock ef dx si lx caliper. You just need to grind down the s2000 pad back plate.
Honestly it will be more than enough for dd drag autox and some hpde course (depending on how fast the track is).
If its not enough for you THEN upgrade to larger rotor caliper and pad. Keep stock ef knuckle.
Buy gsr da dc rotors
buy itr calipers and brackets
buy 3mm hubcemtric spacer on ebay $25 (these go in between hub and rotor)
Buy nicer race pads ( use angle grinder and take off about .5mm from pad so that pad will clear rotor hat)
Thats it no machining required.
In thr past u used grade 8 washers which where about 2.5mm thick and it worked fine too. Back then I didnt see anyone making 3mm spacers only 4 or 5mm. But recently found some hubs centric 3mm spacers.
Lastly if thats not enough.....
Buy ef ex knuckles
buy itr caliper brakcets
mini cooper rotors
super race pads.
Ive had all 3.
Im at about 550 whp and road race with 450whp.
The dx knuckle rotor and modified s2000 race pads where nice to have on smaller slower courses and autox drag racing.
The dx knuckle gsr rotor itr calipers xr3 or hp plus pads can take alot more heat and less fade copared to just dx caliper modified s2000 performance pads. For now I dont have any need to even use my ef ex knuckles and mini Cooper rotors (wasteful extra weight) maybe when I can drive faster or run longer sessions than just 20min increments ill find myself over working the dx knuckle gsr rotor itr caliper combo.
Glad to see you folks still play in with ef.

Also keep in mind that when your getting some used junkyard unknown condition knuckles , you'll likely likely to replace ball joint and wheel bearing or even hubs as they can get damaged or I've seen some have small cracks. Replacing all that can easily add up to $200-$400.
For that reason I would reccomend you keep your knuckles you know are in good condition and some money on other things to accomplish better braking not different knuckle.
Vw rotor... I've heard of some using the corrado rotors but never tried it myself since theres no need too.

very nice. i just want huge calipers cuz they look nice plus i want extra braking power. im a Class A Driver so im pretty freaking good on the brake( no ABS on a 12wheeler) with air brakes. i love hitting the up/down of the Cali 580 Altimont and Back roads of Patterson pass between tracy and Livermore, ca. the tiny *** Calipers i have now do nothing to allow me to bang the turns damn near slide off the cliff with my *** off the seat. they are for more braking power and cosmetic but not for autox or anything of the nature. im upgrading all the suspsion peice by peice atm and i only have a current D16a6 in the LX for now but soon i plan a B16 or maybe a H22 since they are more in availability then my so desired DOHC ZC. i think im going to do the EF EX rotor with Accord T25 caliper bracket and Caliper and have a Shop shave the T25 bracket the 3mm on the mounting surface and eat my upgrade with a smile ^^. Ebay has some good deals on calipers and Brackets T25 bracket for 15.00 and Calipers starting at 35.00 100.00 will get me a nice set big brakes upgrade for 200.00 not a bad deal. ill let u guys know how it goes.
Not to dig up the dead but, with that fast brakes kit, i know it allows use of integra calipers but can you just use integra rotors with or do you have to use the 11" rotor?
