B16A build to eventual B18 hybrid
Ok so Ive currently got a JDM B16A in my 99 EJ6 of uncertain vintage and miles(head stamping say 90 and but it does have a second gen valve cover, supposedly it only has 120k miles......uh huh) sitting on a hacked up dx wiring harness, anyways I want to take all the uncertainty out of just how long I can count on this motor and get started on what will be my vision of this car spec'd to my preferences.

Goals 190+whp and 140+wtq daily driver, dont need it to rev to 10,000rpm or set records at a drag strip, just fun and happy to punch it when the need comes up
what Im thinking is first off take all the shoddy work out and just go with a clean Rywire OBD-1 harness an be done with the chance theres something weird going on with it. then I want to add to that a Hondata S300 v3 with most likely a P28 ECU to run whatever setup I end up going with and eventually a coil on plug conversion but thats not budgeted for at this stage.
Then I want to build the head with New parts and get it ported an polished, de burred, 3 angle valve job ect.......now I plan on doing a chunk if not all of this while it still sits on the B16 block and Im gonna aim to try and budget myself to $2800 or less for this over the next 4 months, would like some help on what parts combinations will make this workable and swapable to another block.
next stage is to either convert the block to higher cc or get a B18 block an build that up to eventually be mated to the head....probably looking at 6-8 months to build it then assemble.
A. I currently do have a friend with a B18A1 complete engine an he only wants $100 for it, Im pretty sure it should mate to the B16A head but dont know much about it being able to swap into my chassis or mount to my transmission(btw its a y80/s80 non lsd trans) or if its even a worthwhile block to build on? but if it is fully compatible then Ill pick it up and begin working on it
B If its not then should I look into building my block and getting it resleeved for a 1800cc conversion or
C. keep looking for a B18C block?
for this stage Id like to keep it under $1500 at the most.
oh and as far as headers and exhaust system goes Ive already got that lined up an set aside for a future install at some point and that price is not included in the overall budget outlined here.
anyways any helpful input is welcome. this is my daily driver and will be in a 4 seasons area
thanks

Keep your head stock.
Get a B20 block, get arp rod bolts, and ITR rep pistons.
You will also need a LS/Vtec kit, headgasket, headstuds, and some various rebuild gaskets.
^ = ~190whp
And it will cost less than a grand.
