P2P ecu on a stroker
Before I get any farther into my planning, can I use my stock ODB2 ecu with a D17 crank and pistons?
I tried searching with some key words but I haven't found anything, is it possible to just use my stock one? The compression would be about the same.
I've read about b18 ecu's running b20s, a little lean yeah but those had 138cc difference, this one would be only 73cc.
Our motors come from Honda running a little rich anyways, wouldn't this be possible?
Maybe get a FPR and gauge if needed?
Thanks

It should run ok, I've run the OBD2 P2P on a few different combinations, low compression, turbo, big aftermarket intake manifolds, etc. Of course only to pass emissions then back to the S300. You can always play with the fuel pressure. You plan on leaving that ecu on there or is it just to pass inspection?

Are you talking for short term or permanent?
I thought about maybe getting a chipped ecu from Execron or similar one, describing them all the details and then trying to tune off that but idk if thats a better idea than running it on stock ECU for the break in. I thought about the fuel pressure too

Thank you for replying with some first had experience.
You can't tune a chip. Once it's burned it's burned. I don't really think you know what a chipped ECU actually is. So much for doing the research you were urged to do.

What's your point? If someone who has already been there is trying to tell you something, maybe you don't want to argue and claim that you're trying to learn, so that you don't wind up making the same mistakes; wasting time and effort.
The builds the OP was asking about have all been done before. Pick one and copy it part for part. Stop trying to be different or reinvent the wheel.

I don't usually argue on the interwebs and destroy good threads but you have my attention. I feel the OP is asking some decent questions regarding the OBD2 ECU. Since just about everyone abandons the OBD2 like a disease I usually chime in on such topics. Also, WTF are you talking about its been done before and don't reinvent the wheel, why should he copy someone else's **** without asking questions. How often do you hear people talking about stroked D series with OBD2 ecus?
You're even telling him you can't "tune" a chip, why the hell not? He can easily read the chip with a chip burner then look and modify the tune in Crome and re-burn the chip, I call that tuning.

And to answer your question. Why would there need to be questions if you have a blueprint that has been followed countless times prior? Waste of time. Waste of effort only to arrive at the same place you wanted to get to before the journey even started.
And if the argument is that someone wants to learn, you can learn while you're following the blueprint. Then you'll understand why things were done the way they were. How many threads have I seen where someone wants to strike out on their own, do something "new" then run back to the forum for help because what they thought was a good idea actually wasn't? These cars are more than 20 years old in some case. Nothing new being done at this point.
And to fill you in, the original question asked back in the Civic forums was one of those "which one do you think is better?" questions. Hardly something tech related.
It's quite clear at this point your are not sure how chip programming works. You can read the data on the chip, open it in a tuning software, modify it, and burn it back to the same chip. If you change the data on the chip to make your car do something different you are in essence "tuning". (Tuning: adjust or adapt (something) to a particular purpose or situation.) Whether or not this is a good way of tuning is far beyond the scope of this thread, one of which I will not discuss online.
I was not aware of his other "useless" thread, I found the question in this thread legitimate enough to answer, that is all.

In the tuning regard you are right. The chips themselves have to be reburnable. I do remember that from years ago when I researched tuning options. In that I was wrong and I apologize for the smugness.
What I don't apologize for is the "opinion poll" threads and the subsequent arguing as if the OP was Chris Columbus discovering the new world when the OP was urged to do more research and not ask spoonfed questions.
