Need questions answered on an '87 RT4WD
Hey all,
Subaru driver here who bought an old Honda.
Gallery of it can be found here - http://imgur.com/a/EP8w2
But anyways, i got it for super cheap, the previous owner said it needed a new cam. When we got the valve cover pulled off we found the cam had snapped in half and severely scarred the cam journals beyond repair. So we basically tore the whole thing apart with plans to get it rebuilt as much as possible in time to drive it as a winter beater/parts getter etc.
I keep reading and finding a plethora of conflicting information. The current motor was the OEM D15A2, i have been told that i can drop any D-series head on there without issues. Any truth to this?
A lot of people have been saying to do the fuel injection swap but that requires some harness rewiring from what i've read so i don't mind keeping the carb set up. If i can get it running decent enough i've considered picking up a Weber.
We also ripped out all the random emissions junk, however i did keep it all in tact and have it if needed. But i have been told it can all be tore out without issue. Again, any truth to this? is there a specific method required for devac on these?
The kid i bought it from was a "stancenation" bro and pretty much wrecked the suspension. The torsion bars in front were adjusted and dropped, so im sure the shocks in front are garbage now. I'll be raising that back up to stock height and hopefully finding some new shocks. The rears are the issue here. The rear springs were just completely removed. Its just sitting static on the bump stops. I cannot seem to find any rear springs available online and i cannot find a reference to their size so i could find some replacement springs. Anyone know what will fit back there?
I also need a drivers side headlamp if anyone knows where to get ahold of one.
And lastly, as you can see in the pictures the back few windows have what i've been referring to as "the urine of the gods" stained on them. The owner said it sat for about six months but i cant explain what caused it. I've tried all sorts of cleaners, bleach, rubbing compound, even steel wool. I cannot get it clear. Its almost like its inside the glass. anyone have any idea what can clean that?
