how do i know if i have a b16a gen 1 or gen 2? btw i have no idea what car the motor comes from.

 

Well the first generation is OBD0 (88-91), and the second generation is OBD1 (92-95) or OBD2 (96-00).

But they can be converted from one to the other... I don't know of any way to tell off hand without doing some research. (Which you could be doing yourself)

Perhaps give us some details of the vehicle. Pictures may also help.

Why are you posting this in another thread ? What is the urgency ? You are getting help in your original thread. This issue is TRIVIAL !!! There is no significant difference between the two, so knowing what you have is essentially just for grins and giggles. It is a B16A. Provide the answers to the questions that we ask in your original thread and you will receive the answer that you seek. Simple.

Unfortunately, "seeking other options" means that all of the answers do not get confined to the thread that you created... and thus, the help that the next person needs may not be found in a related thread when they search. There are very few parts that differ between the first and second generation JDM B16A. Had you asked this in your original post from the beginning, chances are really good that you would already have your answer.

The more information that you provide from the beginning, and the clearer you ask what you really want to know, the faster you will get the answer that you seek.
