Does anyone know how much movement should be present on the valve when testing? I cleaned mine out and jumped it from the ecu using the testing procedures. The most I saw was roughly about 1/16" in movement.

 

If you test across the pins for ohms it should be between 8 and 15, ideally 12 ohms. That should be the only test you should need. The ecu toggles the ground side so that it has the correct amount of opening in it. I've never seen any information on just how much opening it should have but that's because if you ground it it will full open. The ecu toggles it many times a second to get it to the correct opening depending on load.

 

Across the coil it read about 14 ohms. I just saw a video of a guy testing his and it opened up about the same amount as far as i could tell. I would think also that you could still get a good reading across the coil if nothing was wrong electrically but for some reason the solenoid would get jammed causing no movement which is why I asked. Well I guess I gotta look elsewhere to test this stupid crazy idle bounce

 

Have you tightened down the fitv yet ? Vacuum leaks can normally be located by gently spraying a fine mist of either water or some carb cleaner around the intake and when the idle changes you found it. Tighten down the fitv first since you can't spray that for a leak.

 

yea, i did that already. I even blocked off the whole fitv for a bit. I tried spraying around but couldn't find anything. My next step is just to replace all the vacuum hoses.

 

Have you actually tried finding the vacuum leak yet?

 

 

It depends on what exactly you sprayed around. Its really not hard at all to find a vacuum leak.
