Default ok who would be interested in this security device

I am from michigan and there really are not that many theifs of imports around here but i just finished my swap and really paranoid about it getting stolen(way to much of my hard work).

I was talking to my dad who is a electrical engineer an we are making a device that uses a keypad and a 4-5 digit code to "lock" both your fuel pump and igniton, and then you can hide the keypad, and you can't steal a car without fuel!!

But anyway would anyone else be interested in this?

Pm me if so, cause you guys in socal seem to get your cars stolen daily and i know you guys could use something like this if we did make a kit it would come with everything to install it and a "how to" plus it would be easy just splice some wiring, because all the brains would be if the keypad box. btw i have a ton of references so this is not some scam. It would be like 50 bux shipped maybe less have not priced it out yet

To the moderator if I should not have posted this delete it, but I thought this i something everyone could use.

no offense, but if its just a matter of splicing both of those lines and the keypad is the brain setup, all they have to do is find the brain and cut and tape the wires..... maybe make the keypad separate and relocate the brain, just a thought

I have to agree, but if your really that paranoid, just pull a fuse...

I have to agree on seperating the keypad and the brain...

Thats what it would be the keypad would be seperate, and as far as pulling the fuse i think most theifs know that trick by now, well i am making one for myself and if anyone else is intested or would like some feature added tell me, any feature can be added just ask

First the key pad would be seperate from the "brain", you hide the brain somewhere that would NEVER be found, second then the keypad on your dash, so if a thief tears off the keypad and splices the wires back together nothing will happen because the brain will give the output based on keypad input so that would not work.

Second you spice into your fuel pump/ Ignition under the dash as well hiding it as well so really no thief could ever find it/ break in to it.

Third, come on guys this is just a CHEAP little device to add for some security, a good system is like 250 and more difficult to install,

and Finally This will work well since its not mainstream thiefs will not know what to do with it let alone find it because everyone can put it in a different place. makes it more custom, and much more difficult to compromise, because do you think a thief is going to take 30mins to find where you spliced you wires up under your dash, they will go elsewhere like someone with a huge clifford box under there dash

No offense but they will prob either just tow the car away if they really want it or steal what they can off of it. My friend was selling his car in front of his house and we got back from the bars and the car was goone with two big *** tire marks. Some one pulled up with a roll back and drug it up onto the roll back and away went his nice car. If they want it they will take it. The more **** you have on your car to make it harder for them to steal the less they will waste their time on your car unless you got something they really want. IMO.

Sounds good but like they said you would need a seperate sire or whatever for the keypad.

I am also an electronic engineer, and while the concept is good, it all comes down to being a simple microcontroller setup. True, shorting the wires at the keypad will not do any good because it needs a known input sequence. But as with any other simple setup, the keypad wires can be traced to the controller ("brain") and shorted there. This would basically have the same security effect as a hidden alarm box w/ ignition (not starter!) kill, find it and the security is gone. I can and will (when i have the time) modify the ecu to make use of some unused pins as a "keypad input" with the circuitry safely inside the ecu so even if they successfully "trace" the wires back to the ecu, there wouldn't be any option but to change out the ecu (they can't "short" any wires like you can when you find the alarm units). This would be on top of the regular alarm system. Of course as mentioned many times before, if they really want your car, they will tow it.
