So I just got a civic, everything was good untill the car warms up, maybe 15mins of driving and it starts acting up, when I press in the clutch it jerks, like if I pushed the break, when I shift it jerks like a 16yr old trying to learn manual. I have to ride the clutch a little to drive normal. Also whenever im stop and wanna take off, when I accelerate the rpms go up and down really quick till I take off. But if I park it for like an hour and drive it again, it drives good, till it gets warm again and starts acting up. Anybody had this problem before? Thanks

 

Do a tune up. Check the timing.

 

Well I checked the codes, had the check engine light on, I get a p0505 idle air control valve. I found that it might be that it's dirty so I cleaned it. Seems like the problem is gone ( for now) but the light its still on. Any ideas what else could be?

 

Reset the code to kill the light.

If it comes back, then you still have a problem.

 

I did reset the light, was gone for a couple of hours then light came back on, and the problem start happening again, Code P0505 apparently its the Idle air control valve, i cleaned it already but problem still occurs. could the IACV be bad?

 

What year and trim level is your Civic? Give us as much information as you can.

sounds like it is drive able in open loop, as soon as it switches the iacv causes severe drive ability issues, as they usually do when bad.
