So, I installed a new stereo unit into my girlfriend's car a while ago. Everything works perfect, except for the fact I can get FM/AM on it. There's not static or anything, just complete silence. It was working fine on the factory unit. I took out the new one, hooked up the oem radio, and it was playing fine. I heard you need an adapter or something. Car's a 1996 Accord coupe, the one with the integrated antenna. Thanks for the help guys. I don't know anything about these as I am a mustang guy.

 

did you connect the antenna coaxial cable behind the radio??

 

Yep, still nothing! It's weird!

 

then you gonna have to check if the coaxial is connected to the antenna. Something is not connected right, since you stated that you dont have any noise coming out. does any static sound?

 

No static at all. Like I said: Was working perfectly with the OEM radio, installed new radio correctly and that made no static or anything. I checked the wires and everything was good. Pulled that radio out and plugged in the stock one, FM and AM worked fine again.

 

Could just be a bad new head unit, bring back the head unit and get another.
