00 Civic - Dome light does not turn on when doors opened
This may sound stupid... but im going to say it anyways.
It's a 3-way switch. Make sure it is set to the middle setting.
The first setting is "off", middle is "on only with a door open", and the third setting is "on".

I have a 2000 automatic 2 dr ex. It does have keyless entry with an aftermarket radio installed. I didnt do the original one but I did put my upgraded one in. I have done installs before.
For the 99-00 Civic, the ceiling light circuit (door open input and door open output) does not go through the stereo unit (96-98 Civics had the keyless receiver unit as part of the stereo tuner).
The ceiling (dome) light have dual functionality; (1) turns on if switched ON, and (2) turns on if door opened. Because the ceiling light have "dual functionality" there are two separate ground sources involved in the circuit. (1) When the light is switched on, the light switch get its ground source from the base of the unit. (2) If a door is opened, the light switch gets its ground source through wiring coming from the the individual doors switches (at each door). The ceiling light power (+) source is always Hot; it just needs the ground source to turn on. The ceiling light is negative trigger (-).
1. First you might want to check the individual door switches and the wiring (driver's side and passenger side).
2. Located behind the driver's kick panel, is the Keyless Door Lock Control Unit. The ground wires for the ceiling light goes through the unit. The unit has an 18P gray connector. Disconnect the 18P connector and insert a jumper wire between cavity terminal no. 1(Lt. Grn/Blk wire - door open output) and cavity terminal no. 12 (Lt Grn/Red wire - door open input). -- Does the ceiling light turn on?
If the ceiling light turns on, it may be an issue with the keyless door lock control unit.
3. If the ceiling light does not turn on in step no. 2, there may be an open (break) in connections or wiring that runs along one or more of the individual door switches, and/or one of two connectors. The ground wires for the ceiling light goes through connector C401 (a 20P gray connector located behind the driver's kick panel; passenger side door switch wire is at terminal no. 15- lt. grn/red wire) -> through the keyless door lock control unit -> through connector C407 (a 6P gray connector behind the driver side dash, up higher; lt grn blk or lt grn/red wires) -> and then to the ceiling light.
The driver's side door switch wiring goes through the integrated control unit first (at connector C401, a grn wire at terminal no. 14).
