Well guys, I'm happy to say I'm joining the club... :) :) :)
I put a deposit down on 00 PY #1234 last night... The Chicago R squad is going to have a new (*cough* and twice as cool) member!!!
God, I am so hyped you guys. I'm out loan shopping today, and it is doing nothing but making my hate for banks grow.

I cannot tell you guys how impressed I was with the ITR when I got a good test drive last night. My extent of playing with an ITR before than was just driving one around the block at a dealership going 25 the whole way. This car is RAW.
Seriously, above and beyond any expectation I had for it. Before last night I was thinking "Well, it's a 4 banger with vtec, so it's probably a little faster than my CRX with better handling" ...lol I fully understand how all you guys get so wrapped up in your cars now

Congratulations. You'll have a ball.
Advice: Forget about modifications until you know the car. It's fine out of the box.

congrats burn
best advice? invest in *layered* security to prolong the pleasure of type R ownership.

Yeah, it's got a VTEC controller and an intake on it... but honestly I didn't see myself getting anything more than that put on the car anyway. Oh, it also has a pillar-mount exhaust temperature gauge. Can you guys think of any good use for that besides the bling-bling factor? I mean, you already have engine temp... *shrug* Looks cool either way
EGT gauges are usually used in cars with forced induction, so I'd make sure this car is in good health before making the plunge.
Then again, the previous owner could have simply liked the way the gauge looked, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
ENJOY the car but remember the *** will come around once in awhile- and now that the tires are cold....
So be safe and don't mess around till you have learned the way the car handles.
once again, ENJOY!

I'm starting a part time job today at MobileTel, which is a mobile audio and security shop, (For 60 hours of work a week, am I nuts or what?) so hopefully I can work there just long enough to totally pimp out the car with every alarm provision known to man with a phat discount.
Also, is it really safe to bounce off the rev limiter in an R? I've always wondered that. People post on here talking about it, I'm scared to death to do that in my CRX (I stay the **** AWAY from the redline)... but the R can handle it?
And for winter tires what do you guys reccomend? Dunlop SP Sport A2 are the "best" all-season performance tire according to Consumer Reports. And I've noticed a lot of people get steelies for the winter, why not just swap the tires and keep the factory rims on the car? Is there any reason for that? (I can't imagine any real drawback that I can think of other than having to go to a tire shop and paying them to do it.

don't bounce off the limiter every min, but on track days if you must ya can...
And as for snow tires get plain snow tires and have them on steelies and change the wheels when needed.

Alright so say I get some Steelies... can I get some of those American Racing wheel covers from Track Auto with the bling-bling rim and big fake brake disc without the Chicago HT Squad coming to beat me up?!? lol

Congrats on the car. The specs and mods you list sound a lot like the black one that was forsale on ebay, which had a VAFC and EGT gauge on the pillar. I remember reading your posts about learning how to drive manual and wanting an ITR way back when I first joined H-T...glad you finally found your baby.
Just make sure the car is fully warm before going pass 4000 rpm...that's my rule of thumb. And by warm I do not mean the stock water temp gauge at the mid way point. Warm would be the stock temp gauge at the mid way point for at least 2 minutes (at least that what it means to me).
It would be safe to say that most, if not all ITR owners redline their cars on a daily basis. Just keep your eye on oil level and cleanliness.
It might be a good idea to dyno tune your new ride to make sure the VAFC has been programmed correctly.
Enjoy!

Congratulations!! It's about time.
Don't worry about accidently hitting the limiter once in a while. You'll probably find the limiter won't intervene until 8600-9000rpm.
I'd recommend getting some decent snow tires. I've got some cheap yoko's from the Discount Tire on Mazda rims. If you don't mind paying to have the tires remounted twice a year ($120?) you could use the stock rims. Of course around here the road salt can't really be helpful to wheels either.

I guess the only thing left is what should my license plate say... I'm thinking "BABY NSX" if it's available
