Default 1986 honda civic si, restart issue after it gets hot

Ok, so here is my issue. I have an '86 civic si! With a fully rebuilt stock motor. After the rebuild We replaced the 02 sensor because the ecu threw that code, upon further inspection the wire was busted at the ceramic tip. Ok it ran fine for a while, then it started having issues restarting after it got hot. The car was flooding and it would eventually restart and run fine. We just replaced the fuel injectors and the problem seemed to get better, yet it still floods on hot restart. We have looked at the crank angle sensor, it tests fine. The coolant temp sensor is fine. The main relay is good. We are going to test the tps tomorrow. Are there any other things that we should look at?

Negative on that. We spent the day troubleshooting sensors! The map sensor is ok, as is the 02 sensor, the tps, and the coolant temp sensor. the ECU is even functioning properly, when we pulled the sensors off with the car running it threw the proper codes. There is water in the intake, yet no combustion product in the coolant. The anti-freeze looks great. Compression test to follow in the morning. From there we are probably going to tear into the intake manifold.

We did a compression test. The compression is good yet we have coolant in the oil.

Ok, so head gasket is blown between an oil passage and the water jacket...easy fix.

True, but, why would it be blown with less than 3,000 miles on the new gasket, and there is zero combustion products in the coolant. I do see what direction you are headed. Either way looks like the head comes off. Then we can check The head to make sure it isn't warped.

Actually, it was an improper head removal from previous owner. The head itself is fine it isn't warped. The issue is on the block. Waiting for my dad to get home so he can help us seal the issue. Problem solved, we are off to get parts to fix it now! I love having a dad who is a master mechanic.

A complete update to this is that graphite head gaskets suck, stick with the fel-pro! The former owner of our honda civic pryed the head off of the block and damaged the sealing surface between an oil passage and the waterjacket. Needless to say my dad is smart and he got us up and going again.
