Default 2000 Acura Integra GSR

Okay I have 2 problems. I'm a picky person so even the smallest of things that's wrong with my car I want fixed.

1) my cigarette lighter doesn't work. (No I don't smoke; use for a car charger) I check the fuses. Everything as far as that goes is good because I replaced all the bad ones. So any idea what my next step should be.

2) I know my fuel gauge works to tell me when I need gas but I would my fuel light to come on when I'm low. I've almost ran out of gas cause I wasn't paying attention and was on a highway. Of course we all see bright lights on the dash. I haven't checked the bulb but if it's not bad what could that be?

Are you new to the GSR? I'm guessing you didn't run out of gas, and your gas light was not on, because you were not that close to being out of gas. The gas light in a Intergra comes on at or below the E line. When I fill up at E, I can only put in 10-11 gal, giving me 2 more gallons reserve. For the first year I owned my car, I thought the gas light was broken.
For the lighter, you might need to ebay a new one/run new wires from the fuse block. It should be off a ACC switched circuit (turns off with radio).

Yes I'm new to a GSR. Just got it June 27th..& I been sitting on E a few times. I thought when you were at about 1-2 gallons left it would come on, especially looking at it sitting on E..
& I'll try to get a new one. Do I have to get that whole assembly (with the coin tray) or can you just remove that cigarette lighter piece?

Did you pull off the that piece to make sure everything is plugged in? It should only have a few screws holding it in. You should also try cleaning the electrical connector with "electrical connector cleaner" before buying new parts.

Forget what these guys are telling you about the cig lighter. Get your flathead screwdriver out and a flashlight. shine the light in the socket and look in there. there are two metal tabs that sit opposite to each other in the socket, way in the back. Sometimes over time these get pushed against the walls of the socket. Use the flathead to pry them off the walls of the socket. Use the oem cig lighter to see if it will hold if you push it in. If not, pry the tabs out a little more. do it until the cig lighter stays in on its own and then pops out when its heated.

Yeah, don't listen to us. We r just stpuid yo.
I didn't think this actually needed a full explanation. Yes, check the tabs in case you bent both of them off to the side. If that doesn't help you can get a multimeter and test the ground and the positive wire. It's basic electrical troubleshooting, 1-12v, 1-ground, and it's not an expensive part or hard to replace.

As far as the 1-2 gallons, I have 2 gallons left when the marker is right below E. You still have about 50 miles left when the light finally comes on.

Okay. I haven't got below E or on it. I'm too scared to let it get that far and being sitting on the side of the road all day.

I fixed the cig lighter though. The wires weren't connected porbably. Whoever had it prior, tampered with it & messed up I guess trying to install the radio

It's condensation. Either crack a window open or turn the ac on. Does the ac not work?

oh man, i know those feels. no ac, rain on a hot steamy summer day, and your stuck toasting in a car with the heat on. **** that. I usually turn the defrost on, then pop up the sunroof so the hot air goes along the roofline and gets sucked out the sunroof. Most of the time your moving fast enough to where water won't come through the crack. Then turn on the rear defroster.

AC is what you want for defogging. It dries the air as well as cools it.

I think on my older cars, my a/c didn't do much from defogging them. One I know worked for sure cause I recharged the unit
And my prelude was working properly

It's funny. On my older car, my battery never did much for starting the car. One I did know worked after I recharged it.

Weird.
