Default Paid $2700 for 1990 EF

I paid $2700 for 1990 Honda Civic DX all stock with $73000 original miles. Interior is very clean and exterior is ok for a 24 years old car. Engine and tranny are strong. Carfax shows mileage is legit. First owner is a surgeon so definitely didn't race the car. Documented service records and smog.

Just wondering, what you guys think.

Ouch for a close to 30 year car. Unless it was rhd I wouldn't pay that much

If I can drive this for another 50k miles I'll be happy. I just need a fun commuter car. My V8 truck 16mpg is killing me.

I thought only the SI came with a sunroof. An aftermarket sunroof isn't "stock". After saying that, it looks like it was kept up very well.

Considering the low mileage, and decent shape, I'd say it was actually a pretty fair deal for both parties.

$2,700 isn't bad. I can't say it's a good deal. But if you get 100k out of it over 10 years or so, totally worth it. Still a better deal than a new car though.

I did shop around a little bit. And most of the EF I saw on CL are around $2000 to $3000 but with almost 200k miles and some with $250k. But most of them have nice bling lowered, alloys wheels, headers etc.

I guess it's an ok deal.

Don't go for the 'bling.' The factory look is hot right now.

I forgot to mention it comes with the AC that blows cold air . Not sure if that's an upgrade for the DX. And plus I had the same car in high school and picked up a girl and she became my wife

Definitely wasn't raced... it's a DX.
Serious.

Not sure I could part with $2700 on a 1990.
You can get cars from the early 2000's for just a little more.
But if you have been hunting for this car and it meets all your desires, then good purchase to you!

Damn son, a Legend.

Anyways, post some progression of the car, your plans, issues, etc. That way it fits into this forum.

So far, what I found missing are the front fender splash/liners and bulb socket for the front corner lights. Upgraded the cluster purchased from CL but tach is flaky. It doesn't work all the time especially in the morning. I'm also looking at installing an aftermarket exhaust. I found one on ebay CAT BACK exhaust and it looks very easy to install no welding needed.

Found fender liners on ebay also for $20 shipped per.

Do some searching on the the exhaust you are looking at.
It might install ok (or not), but the sound might not be what you are looking for.

How do I check the tranny fluid for my civic manual tranny? I might need to replace it since I didn't a service record that it was done.

There is a fill hole on the side.
When you are filling and the oil runs out of the hole when it is full.
No joke!

I would look into possibly getting a custom axle back made. Shouldn't cost much and you can pick/choose your muffler and tip.

Car looks really nice. My opinion is that you paid a fair price from the picture. Does not look raced or molested by the ninja turtle generation. You have matching body parts unlike what you see in the sales ads now a days. These cars are getting harder to get unmolested. Your looks like a clean plate to start with. Even if you are not modding and just used it for fuel saving then it was a good deal - if it does not smoke.

I never get why people express their opinions with prices on a Honda that is 20+ years old.
I always see cars from the 60's that have crazy prices - but people still buy them. Stop your opinions on why you would not spend such funds on this car or other cars - this car was not purchased for you. People will pay for what they want not what think is popular.

Thanks man, I did alright purchasing this car. Hard to find an EF with a legit low mileage. Took it in for an oil change and gear oil service this morning. The mechanic couldn't believe the mileage and how smooth it runs. I'm leaving it stock for now. Not sure if I want to lower it. This car sits very low and I'm still trying to get use to it after driving SUVs and full size trucks for 20 years.

Eliminate the cat. The car will thank you later.
