How did I find a PM9-5 head on a stock civic si...
Heys guys, little curious here. Earlier in the year I pulled a d16a6 engine out of a 88-91 honda civic si hatch *(* canadian automatic *)* that had been rear ended but had low km. The car was BONE stock
Just today I noticed while I was porting the head, that it is stamped PM9-5. Which was odd as I was pretty sure a6 was PM3 but I carried on anyways.
I just looked up the code here
http://www.sohchonda.com/forums/topi...es-head-codes/
1990 Std D15B1 4sp--------------PM9-5
1995 DX D15b7 5sp---------------PM9-5
So Im a little lost, did we just get a different engine casting up here in Canada? Because this head was definitely bolted to a d16a6 block.
Im just hoping to clear up that this is or possibly isnt compatible with d16a6 parts? I was about to send it to the machine shop to get decked and cleaned and then I was going to put my Crane-0014 camshaft in it that is made for d16a6, just hoping there wont be problems with that, or dizzy, cam seal etc.
Throw me some info Id love to know how this head landed on this engine and if it was stock or not, composite gasket and engine grime matching leads me to believe this is the original head though
Cheers

From what I gather the head is the same casting and is useable, the info I cannot find anything verifying is that the cam and valve springs may be different. The stock cam I dont care about, but how much difference can there be in the valve springs? if any at all
