1990 Honda CRX HF clutch(?) issues
Basically, my CRX is hard to drive. the clutch is difficult, everyone who has driven it says its difficult and annoying to drive. I believe this is because the clutch is mechanical, or maybe it might need a new one, but my dad told me for pretty much any civic/crx from this time its gonna be the same and changing the clutch wont help because the reason its difficult is cause of the gears. This used to not bother me but i think it may be getting worse as time goes on. Anyway, my questions are, does anyone else have problems like this? and also is there anything that i can do to fix it or improve it?
Its not me being a shitty 5speed driver, i can drive my brother's mazda and all my friends newer cars fine.
also, i cant describe why its hard its just difficult and annoying, you have to drive it to see

Check the cable before you go and replace the clutch. My Hatchback was cake to drive on the stock clutch. It should not be hard just because it's old. The cable lube may have dried up (or grease or whatever).
It shouldn't be hard to drive. The clutch on these should be VERY easy to push in. It shouldn't take a lot of throttle to get it going either. My stock clutch could be let out without any throttle at all. If you did it slowly it wouldn't stall and it would just creep out and coast.
I bought CRX DX new in 88 and never had a problem with the clutch being heavy or difficult to operate.
I just recently bought a 1991 CRX HF and clutch operates the same as the DX. The gearing in the HF may require extra care when starting from a dead stop, but nothing like you describe.
Good luck with the problem and let us know if you get it fixed!

several people have said this, so i might try it. Also, when i was replacing the CV boots a couple years ago a bunch of the tranny fluid or oil or whatever leaked out, should i top that off while im at it to make it smoother?
Just a thought... is there a chance someone put in a crazy racing clutch or something? Would like a stage 4 clutch feel that hard to push in?
EDIT: Also yes, keep your tranny fluid properly topped off or long term damage can occur.

its a stock clutch, still the same from the factory almost 200k later. and its not hard to push in, its letting it out thats a pain in the ***. like it will feel like its all the way out but then you take your foot off and it dumps it. Also sometimes it catches low on the clutch and sometimes a little higher as youre releasing. **** like that
you really think that'll help a considerable amount? Im down to do it because 1. i like projects and 2. i figured it was about that time, but if its not gonna help any anyway im not gonna f*ck with it
50k-100k miles is pretty average. Mine went bad somewhere around 120k. 200k... dang. I had a spring pop out of a clutch before. Made the thing a nightmare to engage.
