11 month intermitent starting problem.Gas pump not starting.
Hi.
11 months ago I started to get intermittent starting problems. I took it to a Honda main dealer who also couldn’t find any fault.
I used information I found as a guest on this forum to check for dry solder in the main relay under the dash it all checked out ok.
A friend introduced me to an ex Honda mechanic who advised me to replace this relay which I did I also replaced the gas filter. This worked fine till a few weeks ago when the same problem recurred. My mechanic assured me it was the gas pump not unreasonably as the car has done 302,000 kl he also told me the tank was clean.
The car started perfectly for a few weeks, then the same issue the gas pump doesn’t start intermittently. He has been out to my home several times each time the darn car starts which makes it impossible to correct fortunately the last time I was on the mobile to him and held the phone close to the main relay so he could hear it click. He come over the next day and would you believe it started and I do understand that it can’t be traced until it happens again. That was last night.
Today the gas pump is not running so I suspect it has to be electrical.
I’m asking for advice and help to trace this very perplexing and annoying problem.
Many thanks

Your post belongs in a different section, not the 2003+ accord section. I'll try to contact a moderator to move it for you.
good luck with your vehicle. I suggest you ask your mechanic to check the voltage of the electrical connection at the gas pump if he can ever work on the car while it is not starting. This will rule out or infavor of an electrical issue, but it could be the pump.
it could also be that there isn't enough gas in the tank. With my 93 Honda, if I dont have atleast 3 gallons in the tank it will often refuse to start until I crank the starter for way longer than it normally takes.
