Default My 89 Civic hatch SI build :)

Well thanks to a few people on here (they know who they are) and alot of hard work, i managed to get my hatch running smooth and driving nicely.
I didnt take many pics as i was doing it since i was on limited time working full time and being married but i did get a few. And ill update as i work on it more since i have more stuff to do in the upcomming weeks/month or 2.

BEFORE

After

I havent touched the body yet but here is a few pics of it from today

Has a little rust at the back corner panels near the wheel well but its not too deep, so removing the rust and the stupid stickers are next in line.

Looking good so far. I'd suggest relocating the battery lower in the bay and switching to a red top odyssey (iirc) battery.

If you are going to start cleaning up the outside, repainting the trim makes a big difference. Or restoring it in anyway.

For the battery i need one of the thinner ones to sit in it's spot correctly the one that came in the cat was shot so i stole the one from my donor integra. Yea next step is rust and trim and powder coating my ls wheels for it.

BTW: This is what I meant.

http://passwordjdm.com/PasswordJDM-B...P1902C325.aspx

Pretty sure the battery is about $150 and you can get a bracket on eBay for $50 or so. Then you can mount it yourself instead of paying the PWJDM price. It's an option.

Interested in seeing the minor fixes. You have an idea on what you are going to do for the exhaust? Seems to be missing from what I can see.

I have the exhaust from my integra as of now it's a straight pipe from the cat which ends just at the back seats, sounds good I'll have to get a vid of it to post soon.

I like the look of a tailpipe myself. But if you don't mind and you like the sound, keep it. I just thought it was open headers or something. Open headers sound like poop to me.

Yea open headers are bad to run aswell and i like the look aswell but I do plan on doing something differnet with it once i figure out when I'll be able to build the bottom end and boost it or run low boost until i can build it. Just don't wanna do a nice exhaust then in for months redo it lol

They will fit. Not sure on the fitment, that's all personal preference. The B-series motors handle boost well. 250-300 wHP daily driven, no problem. At that point you'll want a LSD, better clutch, suspension work, etc.

For exhaust, I do suggest the 3" Thermal Turbo back exhaust. It's awesome. Love mine.

yea i read under the FAQ on how to do it so might tackle it this weekend looks like about 2 hours worth of work to take the rails from the civic and mount it to the bottom of the DA seats. And yea once i get it boosted an upgraded clutch is a much and lsd once i see it needed it badly. My lil bro has a 86 crx with ls block/b16 head, block build for low compression and running ~10psi ( this was a few years ago i moved to canada from NC since and not sure if he still runs the same boost) but it pulled hard and daily drove nicely. SO im thinkin about buying a small turbo and mounting it on stock bottom end until i get all the parts to build it and only run like 5psi lol

Looks like a good start on the build. Definately do something about that battery, don't want it leaking thats for sure. The odyssey pc680's work pretty good.

Saw you mentioned canada but if you dont have inspections you can delete the charcoal canister on the fire wall and switch to an OBD1 throttle body which will relocate your map sensor as well.

The 89 si seats are super comfortable and only a 1 year seat, I would be more inclined to keep them, if your driver bolster is ripped up locate a passneger and swap them over. The 93 integra seats will sit a bit lower as well.

yea i may see about redoing the seats cause the passenger one is comfy like my integra seats. Found out my oil pan gasket is leaking ( did a hi-temp gasket maker not the first time ive made one but first one to not hold up) so imma order one in the AM and see about doing that tomorrow back to driving my 92 integra until i get it in :/

the battery wont leak the way it sits and its fairly snug but looks like poop sitting on an angle lol

might park it for a feww days so i can work on it good and knock out alot of work while the wife works when i get off work lol

For about $200 you can get custom seat covers that fit snug as a bug. Basically like getting them reupholstered. At least, that's what I've seen. Depends on where you go though.

Yea I'll look into out more got s new ******* issue now (posting from road side ) car had been doing great since i put the new oil pan in until today. I head out to a big car show and i live right of a highway so i pull out and drive about fifteen ish minuets and my temp gauge climbed really high, almost to the least white line before red . So i pull over pop the hood expecting to see water spraying from some where, nope nothing i squeeze the upper rad line and i can feel is empty so i remove the rad cap and no water. What is Wierd not an hour prior i just drove it down the same highway about 25 mins from work not hot at all.there goes the biggest car show of the year around here yay me

Refill it, run it, and watch for a leak. Could be the water pump leaking. (?)

Rent a pressure tester from the local auto parts store. They replace the radiator cap when cold, pump until pressure is reached and watch the guage for pressure to fall and a leak from your hoses or engine.
