Vacuum Leak?
Ok you might think this is a dumb question, but how can I check for a vacuum leak? I am still having some problems with the car dropping idle and dying on me. Someone said it might be a vacuum leak, but I really do not know how to check this out. Please help me.
no I almost wish it was to find this problem easier. I took out the ecu backup fuse tonight and am going to leave it out until the morning. If it was throwing a CEL it would make things so much easier to diagnose. I took the car out of town today and it ran great, as soon as I was about 2 miles from my house, started acting up again. The problem is so intermiddent (sp) that I cant diagnose it. Also has my mechanic stumped because anytime he looks at it, the cars acts fine.
Vacuum leaks wont throw the check engine light.
Ive heard spraying WD40 or carb cleaner on your vac lines while the car is running will make the idle jump when the spray finds a leak and is sucked in.
Try opening the idle adjust screw on the throttle body.
