Default Oil pressure drop

I'm using an aftermarket oil pressure gauge in my EK. The sensor of the gauge is put in a sandwich plate between engine block and oil filter. The gauge has always worked fine, but yesterday I started the car. The gauge did it selftest (went to the max and fell back), but then I stayed on the 0. How can I easily check if the gauge itself is broken - or a bad ground or something - or that I really have to check out the engine itself.

As for the engine, the oil level is at the max at the dipstick. Car had an oil change +/-1000km ago and everything seems to work fine. No strange sounds, nothing...

Rev the engine to about 3k rpm. If the gauge doesnt move, its probably not working. What brand/model gauge is it? Prosport?

I have an STRI oil pressure sensor and gauge. My first guess would also be the not working gauge or sensor because I would expect to hear and see something go wrong with the engine without any oil pressure.
